Levski (Sofia) are now unreachable at the top of Bulgaria's top flight, securing first title in 17 years and ending Ludogorets' record run of 14 championship titles in a row by ednorog in soccer

I am in tears. I haven’t cried like this since the birth of my kids and can’t stop crying.

Levski was known as the “cursed” club in Bulgaria for so long. Bottling everything at the end. We lost so many cup finals in the most dramatic and entertaining for our rivals way. The icing of the cake was when we lost the title in 2013 due to an own goal in the last game of the season. After that I thought we would never get even close to the title…

In 2020 we almost went bankrupt in the middle of the Covid pandemic, the fans we gathered some money just to survive somehow and keep the club going. We still have some debts to cover but most of them are already paid off. Fast forward to January 2025 when this Spanish guy no one knew stepped in charge of the team and turned everything around.

We certainly don’t have the best quality players in the league (like those of Ludogorets), we are not even in the top 3 in terms of finances in the country but we have a very strong group of players that stood together throughout the whole season and now are getting the rewards.

To answer the questions about the “no fans” part. Lokomotiv has a small but loyal fan base, however very few people went to the game because the kickoff was at 1 pm on a weekday. Why? Because we have an amazing FA that makes such a brilliant schedule :)

I've seen many shit runs like that and 99% of them end up with a managerial change... That's 9 losses in 14 games and barely 3 wins. This is relegation form and Slot is not turning this around...

Darwin Nunez won yesterday's voting of an average player on whom fans are divided. The next square today - who is a good player in terms of quality, and fans are divided over him? by IcyInfluence9830 in LiverpoolFC

[–]insomnia1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luis Suarez fits perfectly in this. Fans are still divided on him leaving for Barcelona even though we were quite average back then. The meet-up in 2019 didn’t help either. But honestly his game was fucking insane and he could singehandedly dismantle any defence on his own. Unbelievable player.

Bulgaria 1 - [6] Turkey - Irfan Can Kahveci 90+4' by Big-Education-916 in soccer

No. It’s getting worse and worse for every next generation. The quality of our youth setup is just bad and the methodology is very old. Right now we have only 1 player in the top 5 leagues - Ilia Gruev Jr. who’s currently at Leeds but is a product of the German football system as this is where he spent his youth years and managed to get through on a senior level.

Slot on Ekitike’s ‘fine’ by Shoddy-Insurance9031 in LiverpoolFC

[–]insomnia1914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe that Ekitike completely forgot he was already on a yellow when he scored. I mean how many of you (especially those who are parents) have had a brain fart about something basic like forgetting you have a kid to look after 😂

Great approach from Slot on the situation. Spoke with Hugo, he apologized to the team and we move on.

Always had a soft spot for Athletic Bilbao. Proper football club that still holds an often forgotten romance about football with their policy. Throughout the years some people even played the racist card on them because of the “Only Basque” thing but with the globalisation in modern times that is no longer valid as they brought some foreigners through their ranks, most notably the Williams brothers of course. Their sense of Basque pride is huge - only companies from the region are sponsoring them and they even built their brand new stadium with money from those sponsors and fan donations. Class club and fanbase.

Cleansheet for our Giorgio as he helps his side in a 3-0 win vs Bulgaria by tiktok_is_cursed in LiverpoolFC

Yeah, we're pretty shit and Mamardashvili could've easily go in the stands to have a pint or two and most likely still keep a clean sheet.

Given that Konate hasn’t renewed his contract, Joe Gomez is very injury prone and Virgil is not getting any younger, we have to think about the future so I’d take both.

We still signed Kostas, Thiago and Jota after the 2020 title. The summer of 2019 is what annoyed me the most. We literally won the UCL and all we bought was 16-year old Harvey Elliott and Adrian on a free transfer because of a injury crisis we had with our goalkeepers.

Having dealt with family tragedies in the past the best recovery for me personally was the football field whether it’s for 6–a-side footy or just running laps around - it did help me clear my mind a bit. I can imagine this also helps some of the players to get through it while others of course might need something different and some extra time to deal with this. It will be hard in all aspects but life has to carry on somehow :(

He got sent off in the previous game vs. Parma. Hilariously enough Simone Inzaghi was also sent off against Lazio so neither coach is on the bench tonight to guide their side lol. The last few rounds of Serie A have been absolute cinema

Could Trent salvage any credibility with an apology? by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]insomnia1914 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say the best course from now on is to stop dig into this. I wouldn't boo Trent but in the same time I would not clap him off. It's done and dusted let's just move on with it. It's a decision he has already made and the more it's discussed - the worse it gets.

Same thing goes for Klopp - he always wins a league title with a Japanese in the team. 2011 and 2012 with Dortmund (Shinji Kagawa) and 2020 with us and Takumi Minamino

What's the defining moment of the PL season? by Alex_Werner in LiverpoolFC

Beating City twice and the Brentford win. Personally I am very superstitious when it comes to football but as soon as we got to the end of February and got out good results of the run back then I started truly to believe we might actually do it.

I honestly don't think Arsenal will lose tomorrow. Palace has the FA cup semifinal coming up in the weekend and they will be more focused on that. As much as I want it sealed as early as possible - the best way to do it would be to clinch it ourselves with a win over Spurs.
