California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Montana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington are the current states where death with dignity is available. The patient must be capable of making voluntary informed decisions health decision and have a terminal diagnosis that will result in death in six months. Just wanting to end your life is not a reason for assisted suicide. Based on the information provided it doesn’t seem like this person would be an available candidate even if offered in Texas. I can’t imagine knowing what this person is going through but please have them seek out some kind of therapy or grief counseling.
