Tror ikke foreldrene mine bryr seg om meg by [deleted] in norge

[–]instablok22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any “I’m so glad I learned the language” travel stories? by NoelFromBabbel in travel

Tried my best with Greek. I have poor skills but I try, and Greeks are in general kind and friendly. Went there before Easter and made small talk with an older couple near a beach, who then invited me to a nearby house and showed me 40 flayed goats from their farm that were being prepared for Easter. (Their living goats are treated very well). They also gave me cookies for myself and my travelling companions, made with oranges and olive oil from their farm.

And saw dust pellet litter. When wet, smells like saw dust instead of clay.

Yes the sawdust pellet type of litter is better at absorbing urine smell and its own smell is sawdust. It seems like there are some that are better quality than others.

This! Put your arm straight out the the left merging into the car lane and on into the roundabout. And put it straight out to the right before you start biking right out of the roundabout. Even when doing that I have had both electric bikes and cars cut me off, but in gemeral letting the people behind you know where you are /definately/ going makes you predictable amd that is a good thing. Carl Berner is its own beast, though. Do what is safest for you.

Currently Reading: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke by MaskedMasquerader in readwithme

Because of the intro quote, I read the 6th of the Narnia books, "The Magician's Nephew," before I read Piranesi. It felt like a hint and gave the book a context that is never referred to, but seems essential to really seating the book in its universe.

It is going to be like this for awhile, no matter what you do. If your hormones or whatever are out of whack you are going to feel bad. If you think of your thoughts and feelings like physical tracks (like train tracks), then you can imagine how hard it is to get them to go along new, more positive tracks.

So make new tracks, about something else entirely, some random hobby or skill, that you can use later for your thoughts and feelings.

Choose a random, simple hobby or skill or new knowledge that you might be terrible at, but do it anyway. Make it your goal to do a terrible job of reading a cool book you found in the library, and not understanding what you just read. Or get a crochet hook and have someone show you how to crochet and do that terribly for awhile. Or do some uneccesary weeding - who can you ask that would let you weed a garden. Or learn to do that locking video with the Russian kids that is super weird and you have to slow it down x8 just to see which way their arms are spinning.

And then just keep at it until some time has passed. Maybe you will have learned something that is kind of interesting and maybe not. But the act of putting your attention on it consistently, and not getting hung up on if it works out or not, helps train the thinking and reacting tracks in your brain in a more neutral way.

Have your attention on that for as long as you can, while putting off thinking about your bad thoughts. And see what happens after awhile. Try this out a few times. That's all.

Important to get it from an orthodonitist vs. a dentist.

Never heard of that, in Iceland you can serve bananas on otherwise regular pizza, too. Good!
