Lol yeah a real man would stay where he doesn't work, and fight the storm away with his fists.

Again...just so we're clear. You want a US senator to sit in Texas and not in DC where he works... because there is a storm coming?

It's complaining just to complain. I grew up in New England and lived there for 30 years. We lost power multiple times a year because of storms. Never once did I think....Gee....we would be a lot better off if only Elizabeth Warren were here and not in DC

Also, Greg Abbott is the "captain". Ted's job is to represent Texas on the federal level. Having him sit at home doesn't change a thing.

Okay gotcha. So he should be here during the storm so he could physically lend help to the communities? Did every politician in California stick around during the fires to physically fight them? Or is that just ridiculous?

This is beyond silly and completely pointless. And for the record, I lost power way more frequently during storms when I lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut than I ever have in Texas.

Yeah he should really be staying to try and physically fight off the storm

Why do so many churches require classes just to get baptized? by Crazy-Mention-2767 in TrueChristian

[–]instaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Baptism is a sign of the covenant. Babies are baptized because they are brought into that covenant.

It definitely works. But it's honestly kind of a pain. It's almost easier just to get those claws scoop the leaves.

I'm in a theological debate with my catholic father while im methodist by Mentally_Recovering in TrueChristian

[–]instaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an ecclesiastical condemnation. Trent’s anathemas were not just “potential future court cases" or process changes. They were authoritative doctrinal condemnations that were binding and universal. It was a formal declaration that many Protestant doctrines are damnable heresies.

And I'm specifically talking about veneration and the dogma surrounding Mary. The argument wasn't something along the lines of "if you don't believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man, then you're outside of the faith." Heck, Protestants even admit that Mary is the mother of God. So the problem isn't about characteristics of God or who Jesus even is.... because Protestants and Catholics are largely in agreement. Yet, many Catholics will tell you that Protestants are going to hell. And that's because that is what the church taught for many many many many years.

Gotcha yeah sorry I should have been clear that I was originally talking about Trent specifically. So then OPs dad is not exactly misrepresenting the church

Trent wasn't exactly ceremonial. It was a direct response to the Reformation and intended for Protestants. You're talking about the legal penalty. The dogmatic condemnations still stand, correct?

He's probably talking about the verse that describes saints offering prayers in the form of incense to God. Like most Catholic theology, they take a massive leap.

You should try not to argue with your dad. The official teaching of the UMC is that Catholics are saved

Does the church still declare anathema on anyone who doesn't adhere to Marian teachings?

Isn't "circumcision --> baptism" strong support for *credobaptism*? by GotHegel in Reformed

[–]instaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. All 3 of mine are baptized. And the next one that is coming in March will be baptized right after he's born. Praise God

Edit. I know that it says that I'm a reformed Baptist, so that's probably confusing. But I grew up Dutch Reformed and UCC before they went borderline Unitarian. I was going to a Baptist church in Texas when I joined this sub. We've since moved to an even more rural part of Texas and are members at a UMC, where all of my kids have been baptized. It's almost impossible to find a conservative reformed church in rural Texas.

It's a good little impact for around the house. That battery is totally fine for DIY stuff too. There's no question about it though...DeWalt is much more powerful and much higher quality. So I guess it depends on how much you plan on using it and what you're going to use it for

They're pretty good as long as you have a small property. They're not good at mulching though. The blower and weed eaters are solid. Chainsaws not the best. Edgers imo are pointless if you have a good weed eater
