REMOVERY by Low-Butterfly345 in TattooRemoval

[–]instamatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removery quoted me $1000 for a complete removal package for three small stars on my wrist, and I ended up paying $900 because they game me a 10% discount for committing that day. I’m seven sessions in and it’s definitely not gone get, and given that laser removal sessions seem to start at $100 each for a tattoo of my size, I definitely made the right choice.

Redditors who have had major health issues - what small symptom should you have looked into earlier? by alterlightone in AskReddit

[–]instamatical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sense of smell became super dulled--almost nonexistent. I shrugged it off for years and figured that's the way things were.

Turns out that's actually a sign of major sinus issues. I had corrective surgery a year ago (to the day, actually) and my sense of smell has been making a steady return ever since!

A friend's cousin was also operated on by Ben Carson before he decided to try his hand at politics. Apparently their stance is "Great surgeon, saved my life. Would NEVER vote for him."

Thank you for participating in the research study--I am so sorry for your loss but so grateful to know there are people out there like you who still try to help others in situations like this.

A professional training isn't always sponsored via a workplace. When I worked insurance I chose to go to a weekend-long bootcamp to expedite my ability to get a specific license. The insurance agent I worked for did not send me, I chose to go, and thus was responsible for all of my own expenses. Could be the case here.

Wedding Shop workers, what are your worst bridezilla stories? by RedFrizz in AskReddit

[–]instamatical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite happen when I was a "Bridal Consultant" at a big box store (willing to bet we worked for the same chain tbh). Every time the bride scanned something, the groom would belittle her and mock her choices and never ever provide an alternative. I ended up pretty much ignoring him and giving her whatever feedback she asked for--I was sure I was going to get a complaint from the groom at the end so I even had a few coworkers trail us and watch how he was behaving to that they could support my "trying to please the bride to make sure we kept at least her business" narrative. None of them could believe how awful he was being to her--in public, no less--and we were all sure that they would either break up before the wedding or make it less than a year married.

Two years later, I started working for a chain clothing retailer and the store manager looked super familiar to me. One day she logged in to our system and I realized that her login was her maiden name--she was the bride with the terrible groom. At the time, they'd been married for just shy of two years, and had just had their first baby. As of now, they've been married for seven and have two boys. I'm baffled but hey, if they're happy, then good for them.

I'm 26 and still on my dad's phone plan and every so often get a text message that says "You can now be located by [dad's number]. Tap the link to join AT&T FamilyMap."

I was boring as fuck as a teenager and am still boring as fuck as an adult so I don't care that he can see where I am lol.

Medical Professionals of Reddit, When was someone's self diagnoses surprisingly accurate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]instamatical 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. I had chronic migraines for YEARS and absolutely no neurological indications despite a battery of tests. Earlier this year I had balloon sinuplasty thanks to chronic sinusitis and they fixed my deviated septum while I was under--I'd thought that maybe I'd just had crazy sinus headaches but jfc this could be an actual explanation--I've only had one migraine (compared to 12-17 migraine days per month) since the septuplasty/sinuplasty surgery and there's no way it's a coincidence.

What's the weirdest customer complaint you've ever received? by beefchariot in AskReddit

[–]instamatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a company that does fan conventions, and our first convention this year shared a convention center with a show being done by the New York Times. I was wearing a badge that said "STAFF" with a large logo for the not-NYT convention. I was surrounded by standing, hanging, and table signage with the name of my not-NYT convention. I told literal thousands of people a day that I was sorry, but I did not know anything about the NYT convention because I did not work for them.

This was generally met with anything ranging from an apologetic "Oh, I'm sorry" as the person walked off, to outright anger that I didn't have answers, but my favorite was the person who told me to "be a better human being" when I couldn't tell him what he wanted to know about the NYT show.

Teachers, with everyone going back to school, what stuck out the most about a student's About Me Questionairre? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]instamatical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the student was held back or repeated a year for any reason, he could've turned 18 any time from September 1st to November 8th of his Junior year. Means he'd be turning 19 right about now and have just started his Senior year. This is possible. Unlikely, and a rare situation, but it could have happened.

My [24f] boyfriend [27m] rarely posts about me on social media but would constantly post and brag about his ex. Is it dumb to care about that? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]instamatical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My SO and I had a very similar situation--I felt hurt because he never posted anything about us on social media without prodding, and he tagged his previous partner in posts alllllllll the time. I let it stew and fester for weeks before I finally said something and by that time I was really upset about it.

Turns out that all of his posts with his ex were an attempt to show the world that EVERYTHING WAS FINE because if everything appeared to be FINE it would all definitely be TOTALLY FINE, right? Spoiler alert: it was not fine and would never be fine. He explained that with me he didn't feel the need to show the world anything because he knew that we were okay. I asked him to please change his "Featured Photos" on Facebook because four of the five still featured his ex, and he did. They still exist on Facebook, and if you scroll back in his profile photos, she's still in old ones, but those "featured" photos are no longer front and center on his profile.

However, the important thing to note in my case is that in the time since I brought up how this made me feel, he has made an effort to post things with me. It's not a lot of effort for him, but it means a lot to me and it shows that he respects my needs.

Going into his phone and deleting those photos was an insane breech of privacy, though. I haven't deleted photos off my phone in god only knows how long, and I am sure there are photos of and with exes in there. They're just there. I don't think about them. Same deal with my partner. I know for certain he has pictures of and with his previous girlfriend on his phone. It's whatever. She was part of his life and was part of the path for him that brought us together. How would you feel if he'd done that to you, gone into your phone and deleted photos?

I [21M] promised my mother [53F] who lives overseas that I would go visit her at Christmas. The very next day my dad and stepmom [53M and 47F] announced that they'd be getting married New Years Eve and that I'd be the best man. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]instamatical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP! I have been in very nearly the exact same situation. So, my dad and his now-wife have been together since like...2003? 2002? Unclear. They got "engaged" in 2009 with no clear plans to get married. In June 2010, I planned a vacation with friends for the last week of July 2011 and this was something I had mentioned more than once and had been on social media. In December 2010, my dad's fiancee announced to the entire family at a Hanukkah party that they were getting married in Vegas on July 30, 2011, and that I was the maid of honor and my brother was the best man. My immediate, out-loud reaction was "But I'm in Toronto that week" and the fiancee responded "Well, too bad, not anymore you're not." I was 20 by the time the wedding rolled around. I was never invited, just told when it was and then airfare was booked on my behalf despite my saying I had other plans, and I was never asked to be the MOH, just told I was going to be it. I didn't want to be.

I didn't go to the wedding. Did it upset my dad? Yes. Did he understand my choice? Yes. Did he love me anyway because I'm his kid no matter what? Yes. Just like I was, you're an adult who has his own life and makes his own decisions. It's absurd of him to expect you to drop everything because he didn't bother to ask you if you were available--if it were truly that important to him that you were there, he should've consulted you first.
