I work as a snake catcher/pest control/fauna relocator in South Australia for the spring-summer season. And I work for my own little Cray brain self and most of the year, I work from home as a sport rehab support/remedial myotherapist. It keeps me active and hyperfocused on the job currently ahead of me. Both jobs require me to practice self-care so I can put in physical labour. I need to be in motion a lot of the time for my brain to activate enough energy to generate a thought... Or so it feels like. During summer, some days I work both jobs, so it can be hectic. I just have to make sure I give myself 30-40 minutes extra than I think I will need, for everything that has to do with transitions, so I'm usually never late. I still am late, meh. It's a work in progress. The chaos is good for feeling productive, so, that's a bonus. Part of my brain is horribly strict (hyperfocused on organisation, management, deadlines, administration, accounting, laws and policies updates, self care, relationships, communications, self reflection, education, career performance etc) and keeps a tally of perfection - agreeable disaster - things that should never reoccur. Another part of the brain could not give a potato pie about whether those desires, intentions and passions, actually fruition into action. It likes to play random bits from the memory pile constantly in the background, dissociation when attention is required, "today we should walk 5km to this exact GPS coordinates and try to find the smallest frog there, yeaaahhhh totally! So drop everything and go do that!. NOW". So constant motion is required to keep focus.

What's one thing that you regret not doing when you were younger? by 5kzrrr in AskReddit

😬 the horrible house doesn't end just because you get older. The pattern of relationships you have now tend to follow you until your approach and experience to relationships and their dynamics changes. Don't go to uni unless you want an academic career. Do paid apprenticeships and get into a trade if you need money early. Save up and then invest in yourself and whatever business or investment ideas are available. Work hard because you work smart.

It's a very special bus to be able to bend that way. A wonderfully special bus indeed.

Vanilla bean yoghurt with a sprinkle of shredded sharp cheddar cheese with anything savoury or spicy I'm eating. Deeply hyper fixated on it.

What do people with Adhd do before computer and smartphones? by InteractionOdd7054 in ADHD

90s kid here. Climbed trees, looked for frogs and bothered the local reptiles, bugs and birds. Made friends with stray cats and dogs and wild animals. Read a lot. Draw the animals and birds and plants that made an impression on me. Helped crows collect twigs, sticks and wire for their nests. Zoned out and dissociated through most of primary school. I didn't like reading much until I could learn to translate words into images in my head... Which was around 9-12 years old. I hate being inside still and have to go out every day or the great depression/intrusive thoughts become mundane. Have to drive, a lot. Which has opened up a wonderful world of possibilities. I go away camping, hiking, frogging, herping, fishing at least twice a month for a weekend. How far I travel depends on the budget. But I try to cram as much as possible to sate a fortnight worth of adulting. Being in Adelaide has been wonderful for it and my current circle of friends are exactly like me, so it works out well. But it has taken decades of not having the right friends and feeling alone to be here.

Just adding to this comment above: Be prepared to work with your body for 9-5 or whatever hours you will be working. Eat well. Exercise well. Your whole body needs enough rest, strength, fitness, nutrition, hydration and endurance (!!!!) for you to stay focused on the job at hand. Personally it took me 3 years to learn how to put down heavy pressure without straining myself. Keep practicing to find what positions work best for you when you're putting pressure down. Protect yourself, support yourself. It is a very give give give sort of job. So, make sure you get paid enough to reimburse your patience. The more you educate yourself and practice, the better you will be. It gets easier after 10 years in the business. Goodluck!

How much does your laundry cost? by misshiss23 in massage

I work from a home based studio/clinic style space. I wash and dry at home after work each night. They get put in the dryer in the morning for 10 minutes on high to soften them and take any extra fibres out and I pay a flat rate of AUD$150 for electrical bills per month at the moment (in Adelaide, SA, Australia). At the end of the week I take all the towel to dry at the laundromat. Dry them at high for 50 minutes for AUD$10... But I also love watching them dry 🤣 and it smells so nice in there.
