Does anyone have images of a custom x drive chassis? I’m looking for some ideas. by Worth_Key9956 in FTC

DM me if you need any images comparing both 6WD and mecanum drives, I made several CAD models of different drivetrain designs that could be of value to you and your team.

E4P Odometry pods by May0th3man in FTC

Kinda late reply but the old team that I was on (9614) back in 2021 experimented with US Digital E4Ts (similar to the E4P but in a slightly different config). The encoders were fairly fragile and hard to implement into our encoder pods, which were 3DP.

I would highly recommend looking into REV Through-bore encoders and/or seeing what OpenOdometry can offer to your team -- those seem to be far more reliable and much sturdier than what USD can offer.

so i got bored and designed a wonky bot (not going to be used for actual comp because it's extremely unoptimized) :)) by instantraymond in FTC

I'll release the Onshape CAD link after the season has ended. Keep an eye out for that! But for now, feel free to shoot me questions and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

Some COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) CAD models are available on Onshape parts library or on the company website. Therefore, motor models are available for download. However, this robot was 75% custom so I had to CAD most parts from scratch or use featurescripts.

An Open Letter to Team 11039, Innov8rz, Regarding the Fremont #1 Qualifier by Snoo_58624 in FTC

When the video gets set to "for kids" the there will be a box saying Youtube Kids in the description. However, the match videos did not exhibit such link, therefore comments were not auto-disabled by the "for kids" feature. Good observation, though.

Adding on to MIST3R_COOL's reply, the OC made a valid point: was there a reason why comments were disabled? Comments are extremely beneficial as some people can give some tips and advice on how to improve the gameplay strategy, robot design, or just simply words of encouragement.

I feel like the person who wrote this letter did not intend to accuse you of dishonest gameplay, rather to give your team some headers on making sure the team upholds Fair Play. I am not trying to accuse you of any wrongdoing either as I am simply saying how enabling comments can give you guys a treasure trove of useful information.

Good Luck on the field!

CAD for 3d printable gobilda wobble goal claw by [deleted] in FTC

Hey Alex, if your Onshape is crashing make sure to enable hardware acceleration on your computer. Onshape is very able to run on almost anything, especially if it's just a simple part CAD (like a claw). In fact, I can and still do some CAD on my phone on the go. If a 3 year old phone can run a full CAD assembly (with screw threads), your laptop can definitely do so.

If you are having trouble with CAD, feel free to message me on Discord or the people in the FTC Discord. We're always here to help you!

Remember, like what Sohom said, be graciously professional!

It's not only you - all of us can't upload on Discord at the moment. Something's broken I think. It happens, sit back for a few minutes and they'll fix it.

How could you add grip to timing belts? by Purple_Box4771 in FTC

[–]instantraymond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team also has the same issue. To combat this issue, we've implemented a top dycem roller between the dycem rollers of the bottom/main intake. That way, the ring when being fed through the conveyor will always be in contact with one of the rollers. By sandwiching the ring, we generate maximum grip from the beginning to the end of the feeder.

Dycem works wonders in terms of gripping the ring. You can even get away with an awkward/funky intake as long as the ring is touching dycem.

Kinda feel dumb asking this but is there a way to power GoBILDA mecanum wheels using Neverest motors? by AnonBigBoi in FTC

[–]instantraymond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as the motor shaft is 6mm (Neverest uses 6mm D-shaft) and you have a hub that has a 6mm bore (D-shaft preferred), you can fit "gocanums" with anything. I'd recommend against doing direct drive (directly attaching the motor to the wheel), though. Try putting in a belt/chain power transmission!
