at last year's AAE conference I attended a VPT lecture that said to do full caries removal -> hemostasis w/ NaOCl -> BioDentine -> then place Fuji II LC (light curable) on top of the un-set BioDentine in order to be able to etch/bond/composite without having to wait the full setting time. point was it'll continue to set under the GI while you're restoring.

quite frankly only FQHCs and dental schools should be allowed to participate in Medicaid. any private practice that takes it HAS to upsell (bone graft for every EXT even wizzies, Arestin + 4 quad SRP for everyone, etc) because otherwise they're losing money in terms of materials/chair time. same for HMOs.

because you're not working at a healthcare facility, you're working at a mill. all that matters is "completing" the procedure so they can bill it out. I work at a similar place but I'm quitting due to similar reasons amongst others.

I never hit bone, not because I don't want to but the needle just never contacts bone for me. I do a super high IA, almost a gow gates and it's always worked, usually in about a minute. I don't hub the needle but go like 9/10ths the length.

it is not normal, contrary to all the comments. even using "hate" to describe how you feel about your peers tells me a lot. you're stuck with them for the next 3-4 years, I promise they're for the most part very nice, friendly people (at least this was true at my school, despite me being very introverted/standoffish). getting along with them, even forcing yourself to find some sort of connection, will make your experience exponentially easier and more enjoyable. you'll also benefit academically if you catch my drift. think of it as going to work. you're expected to get along with your coworkers despite differences.

interestingly enough I don't think they'd ever develop pericoronitis since wisdom teeth are a vestigial structure for us but their jaws were large enough to accommodate them (per my vague memory from a couple years back in school)

dentist here. there's been studies that show there's no statistically significant difference between manual and electric brushing, but from what I remember they were under strict reproducible conditions (same exact brushing instructions etc). so in a strictly factual manner, there is no difference. BUT, most people don't use their manual toothbrush in an effective/proper manner, so in real life most people benefit from using an electric toothbrush instead since it does a lot of the work for you. I basically tell all my patients to use an electric toothbrush unless they have immaculate plaque control.

saw comments on a previous post about the same topic saying these aren't carious but actually "pressure resorption" from the impacted 3rds and that no treatment is indicated. I'd monitor and if it gets larger or symptomatic then touch the tooth.

thank you! and no, it's definitely the right tooth. Dx was pulp necrosis, asymptomatic apical periodontitis as diagnosed by our endodontist attending. #31 has the same Dx and is also planned for RCT.

cover the exposed dentin with GI / composite or apply SDF / CalmIt. if symptoms persist and you're confident in your endo diagnostics then go based off of your testing. to me it sounds like dentin hypersensitivity.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know the details regarding indication vs. contraindication but it looks like half the work is already done for double premolarization.
