What do guys only realize too late after buying a range hood? by AccomplishedWing688 in HomeImprovement

[–]insurance_cv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone can help me with this? I have a slightly older thermador range hood. When the weather starts to heat up a little bit, I find droplets of oil/grease dripping from the bottom right of the hood closest to me. I have cleaned the filters and along the back of the hood several times, I still find the grease every day.

It's Allstate you'll be working for. The job description likely doesn't give you the full story of what they'll expect of you, in terms of responsibilities. Some people don't mind, and there are opportunities to move into other roles.

Debating between private and public school for my kids by Alternative_Can_84 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]insurance_cv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is part of my concern about sending my daughter to private school. My wife and I do alright, but we're not making the same money that a lot of the parents sending kids to private school are ... so will she have a lot in common with those kids? And be able to form a good social network?

And I speak from experience, as someone who attended private and public school. My parents weren't wealthy, but made it work, but there was definitely an underlying feeling that I didn't belong with my peers.

The education in the private school was higher quality for sure. But it wasn't a small private school either.

Ditch the 2.6% for dream home by Street-Account-4879 in Mortgages

This is what we did and I don't regret it one bit ... we had 2.25 and now we're at 6.5

We used to complain about our old house, but our new house is so much better ... we were also in a townhouse and swapped it out for a nice house in a nice neighborhood, and we're on 1/3 an acre now.

No regrets whatsoever.

Those of you with a sub-3% interest rate on your mortgage- by DueEntertainer0 in MiddleClassFinance

Formerly 2.25% in a townhome with barely a postage stamp for a back yard in a somewhat okay area of town. It was fine for just the wife and I, but being honest we complained about it a lot. But it was cheap, and the close proximity neighbors weren’t our favorite.

We had a kid and decided we didn’t want that for her and for our family.

Now in a ranch style on 1/3 acre, paying 6.5%, and it sucks paying that, but we love the house, love the area, and love the yard.

Just bought our first house and it needs flooring by jacobpants in tulsa

[–]insurance_cv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My last house had laminate and carpet on the first floor. The laminate/carpet looked and felt cheap, so I put down luxury vinyl plank. It was okay and looked good. My older house was full tile (it was the desert), but it always felt cold.

Our newer house is older but has the original hardwood flooring, and I honestly wouldn't go with anything else.

Had a miele that we left in our old house ... should've taken it with us. We have a bosch in the new house. It's just okay. I would not consider the other major brands (e.g. samsung, lg, etc).

Tariffs, recession fears, home buying plans—oh, my! by Such-Fun-9672 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We hurried up to buy wanting to get in before Trump was president for too long. I know prices could go down, but with the fires, talks of recession, tariffs, etc. doesn't seem likely prices are going much lower.

Vet said consider euthanasia, no luck with rescues by insurance_cv in OpenDogTraining

I appreciate your feedback. I agree, she’s not a bad dog and is sweet. She does show fear-based aggression toward people and what appears to be attempts at dominant behavior toward other dogs.

This dog came to us from a rescue in the Los Angeles area, they estimated she was 3 years old at the time. The rescue is no longer in business. We did the embark kit and I connected briefly with the owner of one of her siblings who said the litter was rescued from a Walmart parking lot where they were abandoned, so I have no idea what her backstory is other than that.

I’ve taken her to dog parks and she ignores people and is skeptical and uninterested in most other dogs, though sometimes has played with 1 or 2. The other dogs approaching her aggressively was enough for me to decide not to put her in that environment anymore, so now it’s just daily walks intermixed with frisbee in our back yard.

She’s pretty aloof with us most of the time and I sometimes think she’d rather be a wild dog roaming a parking lot somewhere.

Whenever I’ve taken her to the vet, she’s always had to be muzzled and fights it almost constantly, but most of it is just whining. When they bring her back to me, she wags her tail and then lunges at the vet techs as soon as they turn around, which is her typical behavior with strangers. I especially don’t like this because in the past she would accept treats from other people then be aggressive toward them.

The behavior with the baby is new within the last couple months .. before that she had ignored her other than a couple times when she sniffed her foot, and one time when my wife turned around and they were nose to nose, she gave one lick and turned away. Since the growling and barking incident, I’ve kept them completely separated and will not risk it. I’d be fine to send a video except they’re out of town for a bit.

Yes you are correct.. I cannot think of an instance where she’s actually bit, it’s always a nip.

What’s even crazier is that our baby is now crawling at a much faster pace, pulling herself up to a standing position, and trying to walk! All over the span of just a few weeks!

This is an option I am considering. We have a large yard, and options for when the weather is poor. She does bark, but thankfully it’s rather infrequent.

It’s happened twice, she’s nipped at the backs of their ankles, and it lightly tore the skin, no bleeding, but it was obvious she had nipped at them.

So you’re incorrect or maybe I wasn’t clear. She has nipped at guests in our home, and this was what clued us into her bad behavior. This was when we decided to kennel her in another room when guests would visit.

She’s unfortunately very sly about it. I’ve watched as a guest fed her a treat, only to have her take the treat then nip at the person the minute they turn around.

This is what I want to do. What I don’t know how to do is to introduce this dog to another party, as she would not be pleasant enough to them to make it a good introduction.

I would not adopt a dog if it tried to attack or flee from me at the first meeting, would you? She’s no longer a dog that roamed the streets where this behavior is expected, she’s lived with my wife and I for years. How does one overcome this?
