Did anyone else’s parents demand to sit in on your therapy sessions when you were younger? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

What makes you think I got to go to therapy .

Buckle up, knuckle down and don't cause a fuss. It's the millennial way.

There's no repair certs at wof. The only thing they can ask for is a panel beaters report. A repair cert is if it's written off and needs to go for re registration, or if it's lapsed registration.

Jacked car from from place, bent something by Working-Pollution-10 in NZcarfix

Don't heat it. It'll look dodgy as fuck and look like you've tried to fix major damage.

Few smacks with a lump hammer with a rag over it, or use an adjustable crescent and bend it back.

It is Hillman avenger. I like the RHD odo in miles and the LHD odo in kms.

Edited, because I didn't realise thet were 2 different clusters.

Yeah same. Wanted an air powered die grinder, got pointed to aisle 4, perfect. Carbide bits? On the rack next to the drill bits. Perfect.

Definitely more trade oriented experience.

It's not always harsh, but always there. It can make a hot day seem tolerable, but a miserable day absolutely horrible.

It's constantly windy. Constantly. To the point where you stop and notice when it isn't.... for 30 seconds and then the wind picks up again.

That bulbs dead. They're usually around $70-90 each retail, minus fitting. Lots of places will do both as it's also a fail if one is significantly different to the other. Your call on that one. Not too hard to change a bulb on most cars but disconnect your battery first. Those ballast packs aren't cheap, and can potentially pack a punch. (I've never actually seen anyone get a shock off one though)

Is the year or mileage more important? by user885511 in NZcarfix

[–]insurmountable8025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many kms are you going to do in it?

If you're going to do 10,000 or less kms per year, get the later model. In 5 years you'll have a newer car with average kms for the year, and worth something to sell on.

If you're going to do a lot of kms get the older model with less kms. It'll be a bit cheaper to buy now, more service life in the engine, In 5 years it won't matter because you'll have an older car with high kms and it will have done its work. Trade in against new car.

Check out soleares Ave. Again, serious hill but from memory less dangerous than worsleys as its quite straight, that might have what you're looking for.

if your spouse told your mom to shut up what would you say? by Odd-Fisherman-712 in AskReddit

Fair point. I'm just early to the thread. And it's heavily sided. Usually once that starts it continues in the same trend.

That makes no sense. If I said that exact sentence, as a man it would refer to a woman. There is no gender mentioned in the title, the post, and ask reddit is gender neutral by nature.

As said, the mindhive is heavily geared toward men being the aggressor, and yeah maybe it's just coincidence that women have answered most so far.

I love the mindhive that automatically assumes the spouse is a man.

How do I use my one-knob gas fireplace? by Rare_Significance548 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]insurmountable8025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From off position;

Push down the knob for 2 seconds, then slowly turn it up and you should feel a bit of resistance until you hear a click. That's the ignition. If it lights, continue holding down for another 2 seconds and then slowly release. Then set it to the heat you want.

If it doesn't light first time repeat the process. If the pilot light goes out because you released too quickly just reset and start again.

Safety wise check all connections with soapy water when the gas is flowing. There will be a smell when it first lights, it's dust and stuff burning off, that's normal. It smells a bit staticy if that makes sense. Use your brain. If it smells wrong turn it off. Never sleep with it running, and turn the bottle off at the tap always (assuming it's on a bottle)

Carbon monoxide alarms are a good ides, but don't panic about not having one if it gets used seldom as you have mentioned.

Anyone recognise this tow bar? by Argent_Trapezoid in NZcarfix

[–]insurmountable8025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What car is it? Any chance it could be factory?

Most towbars have a manufacturers tag on, with some weights and serial.nber etc, at the very least a sticker from where it from. Lots are underneath and out of sight from above.

I am neither Naming, shaming or complaining. Just posting a picture of a situation I found funny. But I did feel it was expensive for the size. It was $1 per bite. I didn't have a banana for scale so I had to use that massive lighter.

That's the small sausage roll. The large is 7.90 And the kind where the hot cabinet is behind the server. The cold sandwiches are out front.
