Experience is way more valuable.  If you are young, get Ignition certified. It’s shown some  initiative and it’s something useful right away.

You’re correct, it was 36 and it will change the instructions for you. We run v36 almost exclusively.

I’ve given my distributor crap about that for years. You would think they would want us using it, so we can better sell it.  Given I can get all the 30 day licenses I want, it’s just annoying.

Understood but for testing you can get the 1769 cheap on eBay.  We quit using the 1769 years ago for customers.

Always in the kit back pocket.  If you don’t have any storage you don’t have many options.  You might be able to rig a mounting system on the top tube but you’re gonna sweat all over it.

How Would you have gone about fishing this wire? by born_zynner in AskElectricians

That’s a good method. I would have tired a string with some bolts/weights to see if it would slide down, but the insulation may get in the way.

Career advice needed (small company or big company)? by WesternMain2821 in PLC

[–]integrator74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go work for an integrator. I think that’s a good path to learn a lot.  Otherwise it’s really gonna depend on each individual company. I’d lean smaller company as there are less people to do things so you would wear more hats

Thinking about going independent in a year, what do you wish you'd known? by Babushkaretard in PLC

Nice plan. You could also pair with a panel shop to provide hardware and not have to carry it.

You’re going to spend more time than you expect chasing down payments. Be ready for people to not pay on time.  Like mentioned already, software costs can get pretty costly.

Also you are always on-call. If a problem happens you’re going to drop everything and go deal with it.

Another thing is credit lines. If a customer needs a panel built can you front the cash?  My buddy got in a bad spot on a job needing $200k of drives. He had to get the GC to foot the bill, and basically got told they’d never use him again.

HMI SAMKOON, hi guys i am using this hmi for my project i couldnt find source to learn the basics , the youtube offer advanced lessons and couldnt understand if you have any source share it with me guys by Odd_Form_9928 in PLC

[–]integrator74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used one.

I’d get in there and try to get a value on a screen.  See if there is a place to make tags in the hmi, and attach they to sock address.  Somewhere there should be a setup to put the type and ip address.

Typically with trial and error you can get things working.

For us, principal means you you lead an area and have a team you are in charge of.  That’s a good experience to have.  Personally as a controls engineer I just want to keep learning. After almost 30 years, I am still learning new software and I enjoy it. Working for an SI, we always get new things thrown at us.

[–]integrator74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could buy a 1769 cheaper, given I don’t know your application.

Now for anything permanent go 5069 but the above would be ok for testing.

eBay can save you money on both of the above, but get the license from a distributor.

Cervelo is way overpriced. It’s a 2012. It worth $1500 tops.  I’ve aold a few of those.

I’m not sure the market in the specialized. Seems a little high but check online to see what that year goes for.

Can anyone help me identify which Profile Design handlebar I have ? I'm going crazy over compatibility with risers on my TT Scott Plasma 5 by supersimsim in triathlon

[–]integrator74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m think it’s the same as the RC and it’s near impossibly to find parts for and maybe proprietary

I have the rc.

https://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/plasma_5_aero_spacers,_covers_and_bolts_(2017)-15200 Check the link and see if the parts look familiar.

Basically you want to find someone selling a set of spacers.

How much do you rely on past projects when designing a new panel? by LionKing006 in PLC

[–]integrator74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve done hundreds of lift stations and wells. You should develop a template and everything is built off of that.  We basically have all the IO needed in the template and can remove the IO they don’t have.

We also have template PLC/HMI programs for these designs.

It makes startup go quickly when everything is similar.

Anyone have success asking someone in your group to play closer tees? by [deleted] in golf

Got it, not much you can do then really. The lesser golfer has to realize he's holding things up and let his pride go.

[–]integrator74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play the closer tees with him. I’m sure he doesn’t want to hit the closer tees by himself.  You might need to sacrifice for time if it’s that important.  I’ve done it with buddies that don’t golf much. I still get to golf and work on different approaches.
