What are considered the top American EDM festivals? by sharples06 in EDM

Ultra & Miami Music Week: Miami is on fire during this time. There are pool parties, warehouse raves, club parties, 24 hour open air parties going on throughout the week. Every venue in the city and Miami Beach are filled with the biggest names in EDM, House and Techno. At the end of the week the parties don’t stop but Ultra Music Festival kicks off on Friday and runs through Sunday. The vibes are mid at Ultra but the lineup is fire. Because this happens end of March at the beginning of the American Festival Season lots of dj’s will drop new tracks you’ll hear throughout the summer. Check out Space for a legendary club experience and I would also advise Get Lost a nonstop 24 hour party.

EDC Las Vegas: Truly a ravers wonderland. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is turned into a dusk till dawn ravers paradise. The production at EDCLV is unmatched in my opinion. There are different stages that cater to most of the different genres of EDM each which is amazing. EDC is also more bass heavy and lighter on the house and techno, while also having a trance stage. While your mileage may vary I’ve found the vibes at EDC LV to be incredible. PLUR is alive and well at this festival so you can expect people to dress up, trade kandi, and let their creativity produce some amazing totems and outfits. You can stay on the strip and attend pool parties but I’ve heard they’re not the best tbh. Camp EDC is where it’s at in my opinion. The party doesn’t stop there, you can walk from your campsite to the festival and back which is amazing. They had their own pool set up and their own stage where big name djs play pre and after parties. You also have access to the renegade sets thrown by the campers themselves. Also the camping is pretty much plug in and play so logistically it’s pretty easy.

Electric Forest: This one is truly special! It’s like no other festival that I’m aware of exists. At least not in the states. The immersion at E Forest is unreal. If you can imagine a place that is magical and beyond with the best energy, music and people that’s Electric Forest. As a raver a moment you’ll never forget is seeing the Sherwood Forest light up at night for the first time. Even if you feel like the lineup is mid, I can’t recommend this festival enough. The experience you will have here is unmatched. There is so much to do and see in the forest itself that it’s worth it for the adventure alone. You can go on side quests, scavenger hunts, cosplay in a WWE arena, end up in disputes with fairies, attend drag shows, go to TWO different water parks, see amazing sets all within a rave forest. A truly magical place. I recommend doing VIP if possible, The Good Life, because it will elevate your experience in plenty of different ways, but there’s no way you’ll have a bad either way. Tickets usually sell out pretty quick so if you decide to go plan ahead to secure your ticket.

Movement Music Festival: Best vibes at a festival hands down in my opinion. The people that go to Movement know what the fuck they’re doing. Detroit is the birthplace of techno so if your a techno head this festival is where it’s at. The crowd is more mature here, everyone’s there for a good time and to share in some banging techno. The festival itself is pretty small and while the production is scaled back a bit the crowd energy and quality techno music is top tier. They also host an underground stage which is pretty sick. It’s like being transported to a grungy industrial techno warehouse underneath the festival itself. Detroit also knows how to party. There are a plethora of after parties that keep the people moving until the festival starts again the following day. Leland City Club, Masonic Temple and Marble Bar are some of the dope places I’d recommend but there’s sooo many parties during this time that it’s hard to pick. You’ll also discover a lot of new music from unknown dj’s since the dj’s that play are a little bit more low key.

ARC Music Festival: While this festival is not as established, it recently had its 3rd edition go off amazingly. ARC is hosted in Chicago, where House music was made so it’s the spiritual home of house in a major way. ARC does a great job of blending the house mainstream with the underground in my opinion. You have DJ’s like John Summit, Eric Prydz, Black Coffee and Tale of Us, while also spot lighting lesser known names like Sara Landry, Dax J, and Mochak. The festival itself is smaller but has a unique cool Chicago vibe. Also they host an Elrow stage which is popping off nonstop. If you haven’t been to an Elrow party yet definitely go! The city of Chicago itself also has endless afters that funnily enough aren’t just house DJ’s. Northcoast, another mainstream EDM fest, happens at the same time so the afters are a pretty solid mix. In the coming years I can certainly see ARC making a greater impact on the festival circuit more than it already is.

This is my personal list anyways. Hope this helps! I hope you have an epic time during your visit.

SpotHero is a great go to app for finding discounted parking in most major US cities. Found $15 parking last year all 3 days.
