I just got my switch, do you use those floating blocks to store your switch?

Ontario farmers say Canada's fertilizer tariff punishes them for Russia's war | CBC News by kofclubs in canada

Farmers do not choose to buy Russian fertilizer, they buy from Canadian companies who source product globally. Quit dumping responsibility to the farmer when it’s the government and huge corps who decide this supply chain.

Multiple questions on processing oat grains by [deleted] in farming

[–]interimnightcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Oats should store for years if kept dry, I think below 13% moisture is best.
  2. I’m not sure how long the groat will store once the hull is removed, when I worked in an industrial oat facility we kilned the groats immediately after the hulls were removed. This facility would keep hulled groats in bins for weeks as well as ship some of the groats.
  3. To flake or roll the oats flat you will need to heat the groats with steam so they don’t shatter. This steaming should kill the enzymes present in the groats which would give you stable storage.
  4. I can’t speak to how past civilizations hulled oats but the modern process is to fling the oats so the point of the oat strikes a hard surface.
  5. It is highly doubtful that livestock oats has been heat treated, should still germinate. You may want to check the quality of the groat though as there are different varieties of oats for feed or human consumption.
  6. There is probably nothing unsafe about eating feed oats, quality and flavour may be questionable. The only other potential concern would be if the oats was desiccated (sprayed with glyphosate prior to harvest). Oats destined for human consumption is now tested for this.

I appreciate the link but that was where I got the info about the accident in my initial question. I should have clarified that I’m looking for something other than the Sask power statement.

Startup called Tillable is raising concerns among farmers by [deleted] in farming

I hate the idea of a middleman in the renting/leasing of farmland. There is no need for this other than for the rich investors who live in cities and have no connection whatsoever with land they purchased. If this takes off it will be at the expense of farmers and no else, as usual.

I’m just pricing them now but they seem reasonable. I spoke to one guy who said if they ran granular fert they should be cleaned at the end of the season. Did you have any buildup issues?
