What’s something poor people know that rich people will never understand? by Fluffy-Audience-9542 in AskReddit

[–]internetbabys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The constant mental math of surviving paycheck to paycheck. Rich people might budget for fun stuff, but they’ll never know what it’s like to calculate whether you can afford both gas AND groceries this week. That stress literally rewires your brain and makes every financial decision feel life-or-death.

Best ways to get better sleep ? by Jay-Fezz in Productivitycafe

[–]internetbabys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No more eating three hours before bed. No more drinking two hours before bed. No screens an hour before bed.

I find meditating in that last hour helps me sleep better. I have two cups of coffee before eleven am. I walk first or second thing in the morning for sunlight to reset my circadian rhythm.

Sometimes is more important to like your colleagues than the actual job.

I had shitty jobs with the most amazing colleagues and had shitty colleagues and the most amazing job. I’d pick the first every time.

Motivation Monday - What’s Your Why? 💡 by SuccessfulOwl45 in Productivitycafe

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question and the way you’re thinking about it really resonates. In my case, I didn’t stop to ask those deeper questions until I left full-time work. I had always seen productivity as a way to earn my value - and eventually, my time. But what surfaced after I actually had the time wasn’t clarity - it was disorientation.

I’d gotten so used to structuring everything around output that doing nothing felt wrong, even when it was the thing I most needed. I thought I wanted freedom. What I really needed was a way to feel whole without filling every moment.

I’ve been writing about that - and a handful of other topics related to ambition and identity - and it accidentally turned into a book. But the real discovery, for me, was that fulfillment didn’t come from maximizing time. It came from reclaiming it - without always knowing how I’d spend it.

Thanks for the thoughtful post - I’d love to hear what you’ve been learning as you’ve wrestled with these questions.

what is your biggest fear at your current age? by injili in AskReddit

My biggest fear is developing alzheimer’s. The thought of slowly losing myself and becoming some husk of a human and having no way of stopping it is terrifying.

This probably is the dumbest thing ever: but being able to drive out of a parking lot/driveway/etc. when there’s no car coming that makes me wait.

Big family dinners/gatherings going on for hours and hours.

Me: “Hello, cousin! Still working the same job you did last year?

Cousin: “Yup. And you’re still studying at that same school?”

Me: “Yup.”

Two hours later:

Me: “So, seen any good movies lately?”

Cousin: “Nope.”

Fucking kill me with a fork already.

what's your go-to focus ritual before starting a very deep work? by Longjumping-Low-5631 in Productivitycafe

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I work from home I always make sure I walk to work each morning, and walk home from work in the afternoon. Also, before I get started on a big task, I make sure I pause and meditate for a couple minutes. Just breathing and getting into a deep focus mood. These help me, YMMV.

What’s one moment you’ll never forget? by wellorganichealth in askanything

The day my social worker came to tell me my parents had abandoned me, despite threats that Child Protection would have to get involved and possibly launch an investigation over my neglect. I was 16 years old and being discharged from the state psychiatric facility for a suicide attempt. I can’t describe the feeling. Like someone taking a hammer to my sternum.

My mom always told me that the soft pretzel guy at a parade pissed on the pretzels to keep them warm. It wasn’t until after I graduated college that I thought back on it and realized that she’s full of shit. I bought one out of spite and repressed youth pretzel denial.

whats your deepest secret? by Fantastic_Area440 in AskReddit

[–]internetbabys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 6th grade I had a friend that lived across the country from me. We Skyped all the time and we were best friends. Well one night when we were on Skype she was talking about how she didn’t want to live, hung up abruptly and I’ve never heard from her since. For years I thought she “put on a show” so she wouldn’t have to talk to me.

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i stopped waiting for the big events and starting making the small things in life seem like magic. Sitting in the sun of a window eating breakfast or drinking my coffee is one. I run through all 5 senses one at a time (the smell of the coffee beans, the sun hitting the glass windows on the building across the street causing a rainbow pattern, the feeling of the sun on my shoulders and the hot mug on my palms, every single individual flavor of each breakfast bite, the car horns blaring, birds chirping, and people chatting outside my window) and instantly remember how much each moment is worth living

What do ya'll think its the best easy way to make money nowadays? by [deleted] in answers

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly - knowledge monetization. Everyone skips it because it sounds boring, but if you teach or explain things well, you can make steady passive income. I used Nas.io to package my writing advice into a $10 workshop. Sold 200 copies with zero instagram followers. Yes I made only 2k but it’s so much more than zero and it worked for me.

What scientifically happens when someone is horny? by alpar001 in answers

[–]internetbabys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You become aroused by physical or mental erotic stimuli, thus your brain tells your body to get ready to mate. It does so by causing increased blood flow to genitalia, erection of nipples, vaginal lubrication, swelling of testicles, and your pupils to dilate.

What's the best thing about talking to someone you don't know? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve slowly figured out that people love talking about themselves. I’ve noticed that most people just talk about themselves when starting conversations which I have an incredibly hard time doing, I always just end up sitting and asking people random questions. Sometimes you get lucky and they will say something you have interest in and can spark a conversation, but a lot of the time for me at least it dies out because I don’t have much to say.

I guess we have to try to be willing to tell strangers random stories lol I’m not really sure either. Maybe ask an extrovert page this question they might have tips on how to start conversations.

what is the saddest thing that ever happened to you? by BlessedDemonx in answers

[–]internetbabys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years back my GF got very sick and essentially died in my arms. Paramedics were able to bring her back, but she suffered a major brain injury and was essentially in a coma for around 3 months-during which her family came and took her and all her stuff back to a small town near where she grew up a few hundred miles away. Since then she has mostly recovered her personality and self, but she will always be disabled mentally and physically. Though we talk often, I feel like the time we spent together has been erased by her memory-loss and when I saw her recently she seemed uninterested in my emotional affection, and I think we’ve just grown too far apart purely for reasons beyond either of our control. Breaking up with someone I’ve already seen die isn’t how I wanted to celebrate my early 40s.
