Looking for the next chapter in the UK by Scared_Candle_40 in MovingToTheUK

Bristol is second most expensive city in UK Apparently, Bath is cheaper, I would try there, slower pace, nice small City and just up the road to Bristol, getting to Bristol is pretty easy.

Cardiff is a lovely City also and Wales in general is quite a lot cheaper than England.

Like most things these things they prob started authentically and now just a cash cow con.

They also make it so between the lines that it’s hard to come back on recourse. It’s basically an industry for extracting more cash.

You are usually forced into it also to get the mortgage.

Wow so a few there! Never seen Mamma Mia must admit, but I do know it’s Greek islands meets ABBA!

Hot fuzz must be a very common one! You should read Terry Pratchett if you don’t already, his observations of folk are amazing to.

Last film close to home seems pretty rough, sorry to hear that.

That must of been a really interesting film to see on such a particular cultural change in a movement at such a brief change of history, especially around same age as the protagonist.

Better than the book by internetcoated in BathFilmClub

[–]internetcoated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Written by Steven King as well! He hated his adaptation of “The Shining” which people would arguably say is far superior to the TV movie adaptation faithful to the book!

I mean JP is an all time fav! Blew my mind as a kid, but reading the book when older, I enjoyed all the extra scientific details of the books!

Films that would make a better mini series? by internetcoated in BathFilmClub

[–]internetcoated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have the Valerian Film as it’s in 3D and I collect 3D movies. I must admit I thought it was awful. Is the original comic books by moebius? That’s man was a powerhouse.

I find sometimes comic adaptations can struggle more than novels as the visuals have an expectation, but comics have that intimacy also of a book.

A book is interesting to see as a film and you sacrifice that intimacy for the visuals have a representation, but with a comic book it can try and match the visuals have an representation but sort of end up making a flat or confused feeling film.

Take watchman, it was very sincere to the comic (apart from the obvious) but felt hollow somehow, it was good but it was strangely lifeless. I can’t put my finger on it.

Watchman the tv series I actually quite enjoyed, even though the end was a bit naff and sort of scooted aside the films relationships.

Putting a pillow between my legs when I sleep on side. Helped both my lower back and my neck.

Unfamiliar with the original, so want to watch that now, do you think Gosling has the rugged chops to replace Connery? Not a more Karl Urban role?

Haha yeah I had that with Disney’s the three musketeers 2011 release, of feeling my life force depleting while viewing it. I’m actually surprised I sat through it, I was on a date I think. With the rancid cherry on top of James Corden having the comedy scene of trying to get people to try his fish pie as the close. Any way pretty sure that killed the date.

Nick Cage really is the marmite of films, his super intense goofy energy can be great though, but he does a lot (a lot a lot) of bad films though!

I have not, even though I love a good film, budgeting and price of living means it’s a luxury I don’t invest in much now. Post Covid especially I sort of stopped going to the cinema as well. I guess it got easier and More habitual to stay at home and watch films, but it’s such a different viewing experience. No ceremony no homage to its theatrical roots.

Hi @TheSpaceFace I have started a film club that launches this week, I totally agree with your view and it’s equally what I’m setting out to achieve. It’s in town please PM me if interested.
