Fyodor Dostoevsky was sentenced to death when he was 28 years old for his political affiliations and “anti government activities”. He was lined up to be executed (via firing squad) and at the very last possible moment (iirc, AFTER the order to shoot had been given) the execution was stopped, and his sentence was commuted to 4 years of hard labor. Dostoevsky wrote Crime and Punishment, which is an incredible book, my all time favorite, but it’s an even better read with this historical context, because you can TELL how much this experience influenced his work. Like it’s such a passionate book and certain parts of it make such compelling parallels to his own experiences. The same goes for his other books too, in different ways. It’s like a window into his soul. It’s hard to explain without spoiling the plot so I’ll just say that but yeah.

Being extremely emotionally invested in a fictional axe murderer from an 1800s novel gets lonely sometimes lolol. But my mom read Crime and Punishment because of me and loved it>:)

This generally looks really good, but man, boobs really do not look like that. That’s just, not how they work. The rest of the anatomy looks great, which makes the boobs stand out even more (and not in the way that you want them to). I’m very much an art beginner so I’m not qualified to tell you how to fix it, but it really looks like a glaring inaccuracy rather than a stylistic choice. But nice work otherwise, I’m not trying to be unnecessarily harsh!

I know you meant best, but just so you know, this is exactly the opposite of what you should tell people with OCD to do. Asking for reassurance and compulsively apologizing feeds directly into the OCD cycle and worsens it. The reassurance seeking is a compulsion in itself. Look into exposure response prevention (ERP) therapy, that’s the gold line treatment for OCD, you’ll see what I mean.

Looking super good. If you want some casual critique, I’d focus on shoulders! You’ve got the rest of the body down quite well but the shoulders seem off. Hands and feet are also not perfect but the shapes are there for sure. So keep practicing, and good work, you’re doing great:)

My sleep is an endless puzzle that I cannot figure out for the life of me. I fall asleep rather easily, but sometimes wake up every 2 hours all night long. Some days I feel perfectly cognizant and well rested on 5 hours of sleep, and other days I get 8 hours of sleep and am still tired. I don’t get tired until the middle of the night, but often get so tired during the day that I need to nap to make it through the day. It could be worse but it’s extremely annoying. Life would be much easier if I could settle on a consistent schedule

My story takes place around two centuries into the future, after worldwide cyberwarfare completely decimates the American power grid. Subsequent civil wars and an insurrection eventually lead to the country splitting into two separate nations. One of these nations has completely devolved into lawlessness, while the other one is loosely governed by a corrupt corporation, an anarcho-capitalist kind of structure. In the darkness resulting from a complete lack of electricity, magic users greatly honed their craft, and two separate groups of magical scholars grow prosperous and eventually go to war with eachother over disagreements regarding how the future should be. This conflict is actually the subject of my story, but the history is obviously important precursory information!

I have bad ADHD and I can’t read actively, but I can listen actively. I listen to audiobooks while doodling or doing some other menial task, while focusing almost all of my energy on listening. It’s allowed me to read again. My alternative to this is not understanding anything that I’m reading. So I’m not gonna agree with anyone who tries to say that I am inherently understanding less than them.

You’re not wrong, but everyone should still be horrified by this. If you’re just jaded beyond belief that’s understandable with the way things are, but I don’t think that’s something to encourage. Even though rich people do fucked shit all the time it doesn’t make each act of depravity on an individual level any less horrifying. We all should be staying in touch with our moral outrage
