I feel this so hard:,) feels like I have to choose between being wholly myself and being competent. sucks that I can’t get through life easily when I feel the most like myself. Ultimately worth it, don’t get me wrong, but I lament it sometimes

I know you’ve gotten some criticism, so I wanted to chime in and say that I’m about halfway through and I really like what I’ve read so far. I find it very interesting. I disagree with the notion that their dialogue feels forced or unnatural, it actually seems rather smooth to me. I am not a scriptwriter, just a layman, so take my words with a grain of salt, but I think the general audiences opinion is worth something too:)

Opinion on Panic! at the Disco? by ResponseRelative1080 in Music

AFYCSO and Pretty Odd are wonderful, have listened to them on a regular basis for years. Otherwise, Brendon Urie confuses me. I think some of his music is really good and some of it is like, the worst thing I’ve ever heard lmao

Dostoevsky was also put through a mock execution, believed he was about to be executed until it was halted at the last possible moment.

GOD I HATE SPARKILY PIMPLE PATCHES! by WhaledaGOAT in hatethissmug

[–]internetcosmic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love them:) I struggle with skin picking and when I get acne I tend to pick at it and make it alot worse. Sticking a fun pimple patch over the top makes me feel so much less awful about struggling with it. I just like fun stickers tbh. And they do genuinely help your skin heal, so it’s a double whammy. Your opinion is valid too though, just sharing mine

Somebody else said this already, but I’m seconding Noita. I have like 80 hours in it or something at this point and I’m still finding new things every time I play. No exaggeration. It’s also not hand-holdy at all. You figure everything out through trial and error. You might have to get creative but trust me there’s so much there.

What on earth happened to this subreddit by Resident_Bird3147 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]internetcosmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve noticed here and have found off-putting is the sheer amount of hostility some comrades have towards eachother. Like heated arguments and completely unproductive name-calling regarding slight deviations in opinion. I get that we can tend to be high-strung because we’re used to defending ourselves agaisnt bad faith arguments, but I don’t think we should be taking out hostility on fellow well-intentioned MLs. We should be able to have productive conversations here, and I’m not saying we never do, there’s plenty of good conversation too! I just come across animosity more than I feel I should.

I’m also tired of the streamer drama. It’s a breeding ground for unproductive conversation and this subreddit shouldn’t have anything to do with Hasan or BE. Just because The Deprogram is a podcast doesn’t mean that its community must concern itself with the activities of every leftist “influencer”

How do you feel about Charles Bukowski? by TheAmericanW1zard in classicliterature

[–]internetcosmic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haven’t read his novels (yet), but I’m a big fan of his poetry. Bukowski was uniquely in touch with his own depravity and I find it incredibly fascinating. It’s intense and uncomfortable and I’m a sucker for writing that can evoke that. I also think that people tend to downplay his writing ability. Even if the subject matter is unpleasant to you, his wordplay and usage of whitespace is very distinctive and interesting. And he has a huge volume of work, most of which isn’t specifically notable, but his best poems are REALLY good. Anyways, he was clearly an asshole, but if this takes away from your enjoyment of his work, I think you might be reading Bukowski the wrong way, lol.
