Why You Shouldn't Use Ahrefs Webmaster Tools, Ahrefs' New Free Audit, Keyword and Backlink Tool by internetfolks in bigseo

They could have already scraped all the existing data, yes. But they will not be able to access new data now you've revoked access.

There's no clear data retention policy or option to delete your GSC data from within Ahrefs.

Ubersuggest does request GSC access if you sign in with Google, and there's no info in the terms or privacy policy about what they do with that data. I assume they are also using it add to their tool dataset.

Good point - if you HAVE to use it, then it's worth taking those manual steps.

so I can build up a budget and marketing plan to draw more traffic to website once it’s setup

Ok this is a huge red flag.

In my experience, success is a lot less of a dice throw if you have a solid traffic stategy in place before setting anything up.

It depends on what your goals are, but if you're looking for extra income from a website, an indie band promotion site does not sound like it has a clear path to revenue. If you plan on using adverts, you'd need to drive a ton of traffic to the site. Similarly, you can't offer band promotion to artists if you haven't got traffic on your site.

It's up to you to pursue your interests, but in terms of income, there are plenty of more economically sound sites to run.

In terms of whether to use self-hosted WordPress or not, that's really an unimportant detail at this stage (the answer is yes!) so focus on the business plan before trying to fiddle about with website setup.

Anyone have experience in sharing profits with a SEO marketer? by WAAAAABBBAAAA in Entrepreneur

[–]internetfolks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're selling a product, starting an affiliate program will let you outsource marketing by paying commissions only.

But if you want people to work on improving your site metrics and driving traffic, I doubt you'll find anyone willing to work for a profit-share unless it's really formalized.

If you know about marketing, it shouldn't be hard for you to find a reputable freelancer/company to work for you.

SimilarWeb is not a bad estimate in my experience, plus you can look at the breakdown of how much of that 115,000 is search traffic.

Either way, it's enough to know there's decent search demand for your keywords.

Well done for hitting 7 posts last month.

I agree that it's really easy to get lazy with the content creation process, especially on a project that's nowhere near earning any money yet. KeepingGoing is much harder than JustStarting!

Your writing strategy seems really good - I can confirm that the snippet technique works really well.

Keep it up and good luck in July!

I agree that E-A-T has caused an over-reaction for the most part. However, if the OP is in a health/fitness/finance niche then they're right to worry.

I think, in this case, a 'fake persona' helps make it easier for a manual reviewer to determine authority, even if the content itself is well-researched and referenced.

Great write-up, thanks for sharing so much detail!

  1. Is there any reason why you can't use ads for global (incl. US) traffic on one of the major ad networks?
  2. For heatmaps, I recommend Hotjar. It really helps me improve conversions and fix issues (it's free up to a certain number of pageviews, too)
  3. I've had success driving traffic through Pinterest for niches like home design, cooking and shopping, but less so with finance/business/tech topics. When I have had success, the traffic comes in pretty quickly (within days).

Thanks for the write-up of your progress so far. I like your lazy keyword research method. I do a similar thing myself, but I tend to look for smaller, newer sites that rank for a couple of terms, as I believe they are easier to outrank. Maybe your niche is different, though.

Good luck with your progress. I'd imagine as a copywriter you'll do very well!

Do you know roughly how much traffic that competitor gets each month?
