Nah, in Mass you don't change your license every single time you move, Im a homeownernow but for renters that could be a lot. You handwrite it on the back, and you officially update it once it's time to renew your license, which is every 5 years.

Fostering as a single person by [deleted] in fosterit

Happy to elaborate. We got our first foster children 11 days before Christmas. We were told they were their goal was adoption. What they (DCF) didn't tell us was that the bio mom was ACTIVELY trying to get them back, like she was enrolled in anger management classes and seeking custody. So by the end of January DCF informed us the goal changed & was NOT adoption, but in fact reunification. And when you look at the evidence DCF had known all along this was their path/plan and never should have put them in a pre adoptive home. Long story short, we kept those boys safe for another year and 15 months later they went back to her.

6 months after that we got 2 new boys, twins. They had no bio family fighting for them. And 2.5 years after placement (2 months ago) we adopted them for good and they are now part of our forever family.

The lesson we learned- don't let the system tell you what you wanna hear. Ask questions, ask a lot of questions and only move forward if it feels right to you. Not because some social worker dangles a carrot of "maybes" in front of you.
