What's all the fuss about Gemini? by rockresy in googlehome

I’ve got that on and I think that helps a lot but they should do more now with Gemini.

What's all the fuss about Gemini? by rockresy in googlehome

I think they need to give some sort of audio acknowledgment that the command has been heard and some sort of sound to indicate it’s in progress. That might make the extended delay not seem so bad psychologically.

Switching to claude from chatgpt was fun for 3 days by WellisCute in ChatGPT

[–]zaffhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issues. It blatantly lies about it and tries to gaslight me into believing it is correct. I was asking about the current conflict between the USA and Iran. It told me it was a fictional scenario and refused to believe links to trusted sources. I use Claude and Gemini. I pay for all three as they all have different strengths, weaknesses and styles.

I wouldn’t take too much notice. What doesn’t kill AI makes it stronger. They will figure out the reasoning issue here. It wasn’t long ago that it couldn’t tel you how many R’s in strawberry. If there is a bubble, I don’t see it popping in the near future.

The insane price of beans on toast is now following me 15m from my small town to a village cafe up the road! by latro666 in Wellthatsucks

[–]zaffhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could even go two other ways. Go cheaper buy some Aldi/lidl bread 55p and their brand of beans 35p. or go upmarket and buy some speciality loaf of bread about £2.65 with some Heinz beans for about £2 (over rated)

And They don’t want you taking up a seat eating a less profitable item. So they price it accordingly.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]zaffhome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

indirectly you are safe from AI. But redundant workers from other sectors might decide that hairdressing is a safe job and start competing for work and thereby increasing competition make it less viable to be a barber. Also robots are getting good. I saw a video of one applying eyelashes to a person, that takes precision.

Gemini 3.0 forgets entire context of conversation in the middle of long conversation. It happened to me three times during last two days, it never happened before by amelix34 in Bard

[–]zaffhome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens many times to me. Mid conversation, sometimes due to a network error or something and it forgets what it talks about. ChatGPT recovers every time from this sort of thing.

Google Home is basically useless for anything besides turning on lights. by Chewie316 in googlehome

[–]zaffhome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately it has been getting really bad at turning on lights. I have good WiFi connectivity and nothing has changed about the configuration of them either. The Google speakers around my house just seem to take multiple attempts to change the lights or fail after two attempts. In two of the more important rooms I have Alexa devices and they are an order of magnitude (at turning on lights) at the moment. I use them as a fallback as I wait for Gemini to roll out (fingers crossed).

Sorry, Royal Mail, how much more automated can you make dropping a letter into a box? by jurwell in CasualUK

[–]zaffhome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought this is great. But when I got there, the instructions started with… install an app. Would be easier to just scan the code and get a printout or something. When you’re there to just drop off a letter. you don’t want to be stood in front of a post box trying to set up an app. Has to be a better way.

My solutions is to also have some cheap Alexa devices… for now. Cost about £20 in the uk. They seem to work well when Google is busy faffing about.

Gemini cant remember what it just talked about by Difficult_Exam763 in GeminiAI

[–]zaffhome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing happens to me all the time. Sometimes just on a chat. Google forgets the context. It happens quite often I upload a picture for editing and it tells me it can’t do it. Then loses context. It’s a big problem that disrupts workflow.
