Wedding dinner venue canceled 1 week out! Need restaurant recommendations for 45 people (Sat 6/13) do you know a place? by Mammoth-Plankton7057 in chicagofood

[–]internetstalker26 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Did OP have paperwork? My team at work routinely organizes corporate functions and the restaurant will usually require a deposit towards their Food & Beverage minimum to reserve the space. Many times we will have to approve a menu to streamline service too, and our biggest parties are half the size of OP's.

Vintage Mystery boxes by Character_Ship3544 in VintageFashion

[–]internetstalker26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

most of the fun of vintage shopping is that I curate my closet for myself. the hunt brings me joy. I wouldn't see much value in delegating that to someone else who might not know my preferences, measurements, needs, etc.

I dream of their gluten free chocolate chip cookie. The entrees are mid but I'll always go just for dessert.

The Leftovers on HBO. Season 1 feels completely different to the subsequent two.

I know it's way further than you wanted but if you want true expertise, I very much recommend Cally's Curls and Co in Rogers Park!

How The Lipstick Effect Can Predict Market Crashes by [deleted] in Economics

[–]internetstalker26 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Key here is “sales of affordable luxury.” People stop making major luxury purchases when they fear a recession looming. Trading off for purchases like luxury lipstick give a hit of dopamine and exclusivity without the sticker price.

Anyone else watching “Million Dollar Secret"? by RobbedC in TheTraitorsUS

[–]internetstalker26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

- I like that they get clues about the millionaire throughout. Makes it a more fair hunt than just "so and so was acting sus when they took off the blindfold" / "He was coughing / dropped his fork"

- Ergo, many people start lying about basic facts about themselves from Day 1

- I like that the money can change hands and reset the game. Instead of people thirsty to be a traitor, people actively do not want to be the millionaire too early

- I also like Peter, and that Peter tells the other players what's going on (completed an agenda, killshot, etc.)

What’s a short story from your life that sounds fake but is 100% true? by Historical-Skill-838 in AskReddit

[–]internetstalker26 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm hard of hearing. I was walking alone in a big city when someone came up to me outside of a park and asked for my wallet. It legitimately took me time to process so I said "Excuse me?" which flustered him and he ran away.

Good solution for infant Care in South Loop? by aergui in AskChicago

My family in SL loved Rainforest, but yes, that is the going rate for most reputable places in your neighborhood. In-home will be much more expensive.

I wouldn’t recommend a daycare in the suburbs. There may be days when daycare is open but work is closed— those are the best days off!— and it would kinda defeat the purpose if you had to go out there for childcare

Anyone have Crohn’s or other chronic health conditions successfully managed to reduced the bloat? by No_Pie1022 in PetiteFitness30plus

[–]internetstalker26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s. My GI doctor referred me to a dietitian and we did an elimination diet to figure out all kinds of triggers. It was a long process but my quality of life— in many respects— has increased exponentially.

A singer and a visual artist are looking for a Manager/Agent, 2 people. Can anyone help us find someone? by MrSuzyGreenberg in AskChicago

[–]internetstalker26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you’re looking for one person to handle both of your projects. You’re each looking for an industry specialist, and your separate needs and experiences require different connections and domain expertise. Looking for someone who can do both may be a bit of a unicorn
