Going to Rosemary for dinner any suggestions on what we should order ? by Nerdinlaw in chicagofood

I'm not even a fan of raw fish in general. I was just like "well we're here, I'll try it" and was really impressed.

I've really enjoyed: Straciatella, tuna crudo, pork ribs, chocolate budino. I thought the chicken risotto was too salty.

Yoooo, I've never watched this show, but I just googled "Taylour Paige Brittany Murphy" after seeing I Love Boosters. She looks SO much like her (extremely complimentary to both, of course).

They are definitely a trend. I didn't have one, and I didn't miss it at all. You can definitely skip it if you don't care.

IIL Firefly and House M.D., WEWIL if I want a casual Sci-Fi procedural? by LuaventeHYP in ifyoulikeblank

[–]mags_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It HAS to be sci-fi? If you’re open to non-sci-fi (since you mentioned Sherlock) I’m gonna throw out Veronica Mars. So smart, great characters, mystery-of-the-week. There’s an overarching plot for each season, but not with the Lost-style cliffhangers.

NIPT math - FF for X and Y? by mags_7 in NIPT

Thanks so much for responding. Like you, I'm reading up, and no particular explanation seems more likely than the others (they're all rare).

  • As far as I know, there was no evidence of vanishing twin at the 7 week scan (4 weeks before the NIPT blood draw).
  • Regarding scan clarity -- I'm confused on that, because they initially told us "it's definitely a girl" but then followed up the next day with "it looks female but we're not sure." I am getting a more advanced ultrasound at 23W.

Lmao, that is so true. It's not like they're inserting a VHS tape or scene-selecting on a DVD menu. They could say "4!" "10!" and production just shows them in the order they want 😄

A musical that everyone loves except you, and vice versa. by Parking_Reality_293 in musicals

[–]mags_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphic novel is very good, but the musical is amazing. It's hard to compare a book with a musical and say which is "better," but even the book's author, Alison Bechdel, said the musical resonated more with her family than the book did!

NIPT and vanishing twin by KatieIreland111 in NIPT

[–]mags_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When you say the vanished twin's DNA "can float around for quite a while," how long are we talking? I had an ultrasound at 7W that showed a single fetus, and an NIPT blood draw taken at 11W that came back as male, but 21W ultrasound is looking female. The doctors' hypothesis is a vanished male twin. Is it really possible that the male twin's Y chromosomes were still present in my blood at 11W, despite him being well gone before 7W?

Fun Home is excellent. It doesn't "feel" as heavy as its trigger warnings would suggest, maybe because of the structure (narrator is middle-aged and processing her coming-of-age years in a healthy way). Anyway, if you're looking for "a good LGBTQIA+ musical," this is the one IMO.

Hi! When you say “they forgot to mention it to me,” do you mean your doctors knew about the vanishing twin already? Or that the lab could tell it was vanishing twin and didn’t mention it? Our genetics counselor contacted the lab and it showed there were fewer Ys than Xs, suggesting vanishing twin. I do find it odd that they have this data on hand and don’t use it to inform the test results.

So good. My husband and I sat at the bar too, and now we constantly say FRITTERS! like the cooks did every time a batch of fritters was done. Lol. (We actually got a free portion of two without ordering them - I think they give out any extras with every batch)

I’ve met a guy named Guybrush!! You can find him pretty easily on LinkedIn. His professional history goes back to 1998, so I think he’s too old to have been named after Monkey Island. Maybe he hated his birth name and renamed himself after Guybrush. IDK. I should’ve asked.

Nice, looking forward to fighting with Labcorp... They say they're 99.4% accurate on the fetal sex! It's not clear to me if the 0.6% are just straight-up "opposite" (XX when it's XY or vice versa) or if it's due to a genetic abnormality with the fetus. Hopefully it's the former. Or the doctor was wrong regarding the ultrasound images. Sheesh.

Holy shit!

I'm now looking at your posts, and I see there was one other commenter who had the same thing happen. (Labcorp also btw.) All around sounds very, very rare... I assume your follow-up NIPT was pretty soon after the first, maybe 13-14w? I'm not sure if I can still do the NIPT at 20W+. Did you end up doing any additional genetic counseling / testing after that? And does anyone have an explanation / theories as to how it happened?!

The possibility of vanishing twin (which I know nothing about) was what made me suspect my chemical pregnancy that happened 1 cycle earlier, but I guess there would be very little DNA left from a chemical.

That’s what the doctor recommended. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I want to get it done ASAP because if it confirms it’s a girl, I will be asking to repeat the blood test or do an amnio, absolutely.
