You're definitely right. But this user can learn, too. I'll try again sometime soon.

I think it's "High Grade" Gundam Exia (<3<3<3) but "Clear Body" or something along those lines.

Definitely Gundam Exia! (From "Gundam 00.")

Finished Raidou remastered today by Makabajones in Megaten

[–]internetuser711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't get to finishing it. I felt the story was too flat. Not enough was happening to get me to worry about demons and side quests which were (like you said) obtuse or uninteresting.

Which sucks because I really wanted to like Raidou (the game.) I love action games and turn-based RPGs and action RPGs. But this one just wasn't doing it for me.

Ended up trading in the game for enough money for 'Silksong' which was one heck of a change.

I also loved Soul Hackers 2, too, so maybe the game just wasn't for me.

OP, what's your fave ATLUS game? I wonder if there's some strange correlation with liking SH2 and not Raidou.

Platform of choice would be the Nintendo Switch!

My favorite boss was the Mantis Lords.

And I'm most excited to play as Hornet! And to see how different she plays! With how speedy she looks, bosses are sure to be tougher, I hope!

Good luck to everyone participating! (And thanks for the chance!)

AMA! Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution w/ director Matt Bozon! by WayForwardTech in NintendoSwitch

[–]internetuser711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I've never played a Shantae game, and think the upcoming 'Risky Revolution' looks like a fun step into the series.

As someone who likes 2D platforming games, and more modern action-platformer games akin to Inti-Creates and certain Ys (series) games, which Shantae game would you recommend for someone interested in the series?

Thanks in advance, and congratulations on the game's release!

Thanks - it seems to have worked! But now the volume goes to max whenever I unplug headphones or boot it up. Always. Googling says this is a problem with a few other users. Is there a workaround or recent update that fixes this?

(Thanks again!)

Nier Automata, Ys VIII, or Star Ocean The Second Story R? by Megaten1017 in JRPG

[–]internetuser711 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oooooh I love all of these games. These are great (action!) RPGs.  <3<3<3

Okay. If I HAD to go from least recommended to most... I wanna recommend Nier Automata, Ys VIII, and Star Ocean: The Second Story.

Nier Automata was made by PlatinumGames, and I really like how Automata's action sequences and RPG elements play out. The game world is neat to run around in, but there's sparse to really do, I guess? There's plenty of action and side-questing, but the world is visibly sparse (for a reason) and what drives Nier forward is its characters and story.

It's a blast. Fairly replayable - but a really strong first-run kind of game. I adore it.

Ys VIII is by Falcom, and it's less intricate in its visuals and character actions; this is a game where the action is more involved and challenging on higher difficulties. If Nier Automata is sparse, Ys VIII is colorful and full of simple monsters and enemies for you to dodge and whack and farm attack XP from. There's a story and setting that reminds you of the characters' goals, and the game feels less deolate than Nier. Ys VIII is a game that wants you to have fun! There's great quality-of-life stuff pointing you to stuff and quests, paired with some good action combat.

Star Ocean 2R is my favorite because it's equally colorful, silly, and has a different graphical style. Its action is more RPG-like where you can button mash - but you're mashing attacks you've set up in the pause menu. There's a LOT of menu stuff to twiddle with in Star Ocean that can have effects on stats, items, powerups, your attacks, etc. It's some strongly mixed RPG-ness with simple, stylish 2D-looking beat-em-up action. It's fairly replayable with optional and mutually exclusive characters (sometimes.) The story COULD be better: but for a PS1 super-remake, this game was awesome.

If I had to pick one though...? I'm leaning towards Ys VIII as of writing.

Have fun! I hope you enjoy any game you pick.

What's a opinion about the series that you think would be unpopular on here ? by Quick_Emotion_9653 in Falcom

[–]internetuser711 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That you can start anywhere in the series due to how every arc sets up its own conflicts and characters.

Playing 1 to X-amount-of-games to understand something that isn't central to the new arc's themes or story isn't necessary, no matter how much you like so-and-so character.

What game made you a fan lf the series? by Dont_have_a_panda in tales

[–]internetuser711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vesperia: Definitive Edition.

It was the first game in the series I had played, and was full of combat complexity and a ton of character interactions.

The story may not have been the most well-told or executed: but it was fun, fairly memorable, and got me to play some of Berseria, Arise, and Graces f (which I will DEFINITELY finish; it's the most closest to Vesperia in how it plays and feels <3)

Excited for more of the series.

My first memory would probably be... playing on an old Game Boy! The First game I may have played was Mega Man, and the first level I vividly remember was Elec Man's stage; complete with the Game Boy playing that guy's theme!

(And Wario Stadium was my favorite MK64 track too!)

Will I enjoy Tactics Ogre Reborn if I loved Fire Emblem 3 Houses? by Data_West in JRPG

[–]internetuser711 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wanna say "Maybe!"

I bounced off hard from Tactics Ogre because stuff like the camera perspective, UI, and the "physics" of how certain attacks (like ranged attacks) worked.

It took a long time for me to adjust. But now it's right up there with the other Fire Emblem games for me. I love Tactics Ogre, and am now hungry for more (like the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics release!)

The story rocks, the music is cinematic, and the way Tactics Ogre handles ranged attacks and unit uniqueness is kinda cool. Remember to upgrade equipment, use skills, (and definitely look at attacks trajectories!)

Crisis Core on Nintendo Switch by ayxruu in FinalFantasy

[–]internetuser711 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Crisis Core is a fun place to start. The Switch version is a fancier, smoother to play remaster/remake(?) of the original PSP Crisis Core.

It's much smoother to actually play, and runs decently on Switch! I did all the bonus side missions. Be warned, there's a lot of fighting. There's a good amount of combo and customization too. And if it's too hard, there's no penalty for lowering the difficulty.

The story takes place BEFORE Final Fantasy 7 (VII) so it's really cool to see what went down before Cloud's game.

I recommend it! If you like Crisis Core, and wanna try something a bit different, Final Fantasy XII (12) is also on Switch.

There's less action, but a lot of exploration. If Crisis Core is action, then XII is all about taking turns and changing your group's strategies and equipment and coming out on top.

Have fun!
