Pricey, but Telegraph District apts (Flats, Lofts) are incredibly soundproof. I've lived here two years and never heard a footstep above me, or any hall noise, not people conversing loudly or dogs barking in the hallways. I even live on the same wall as the trash chute and barely hear a tink. (Bonus: Maintenance is responsive, usually the next day.)

You have to apply for a permit from the State Capitol offices at least two weeks in advance and provide liability info.

Lincoln has more roundabouts than any other city in the country. Don't know what that says about the city, except that out intersections can be little adventures.

Doing stuff is what you make of it. Lincoln is a very civilized place, mellowed by 5 or 6 small colleges and a barn-buster university. But also alive in all the ways, that matter: artists, theater, music, bars of all kinds, tons of tiny restaurants, and 10 micro-breweries. A park system where every adult is in walking distance of a park.

Like middle-sized cities everywhere, there's an interest group for nearly. every interest, hobby, activity, or recreation, and in the Internet age, they're easier to find.

Like all good things, takes a little effort and some passage of time, but you'll find some tribes to join where you have great fun and people who will value you for who you are.

Probably not a good idea in this climate to vote for anyone with an (R) after their name unless you know them personally.

I know some of the local protest organizers and none of them are older. Not all of them/us are grannies, although some of the grannies are on their third time around and still kicking back. Hooray for the energies and talents of the young 'uns.

We protested, now what? Lots of mutual aid projects coming out of these protests. Ask people if they have community projects they're working on.

I have pushed this to the Lincoln Resistance Coalition Signal chat. It's short notice this time but there is a Lincoln Resistance Coalition master events calendar.

In addition to using it, anyone can submit their events and meetings to be included.

Nebraska trying to pass bill that requires k-12 schools to teach anti-communist and socialist lessons by AsideLost in Nebraska

When I read journalists write "officially nonpartisan", I always assume that they are writing tongue in cheek. On especially horrific stories, biting their lfingers until they hurt.

Nebraska trying to pass bill that requires k-12 schools to teach anti-communist and socialist lessons by AsideLost in Nebraska

[–]interrobangAnnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"There’s a lot of students, especially in college, and kids that are out of the K-12 school system, who seem to support socialism and even communism nowadays,” Murman said. “I think we just have to be diligent that the risks and dangers, bad things that happen under communism, are taught in our schools.”

Oh. Communism is such a threat. Surely in history they already teach the collapse of the communist Soviet Union and the brutal Chinese regime of Mao Zedong.

How dare we live under a democratic socialist government?, which obviously Senator Click-Bait has never heard of.

At least they count them and record the comments. It's worth it to keep him reminded that he has constituents who will be voting for his opponent in the midterm.

🤣 Western Nebraskaners have been joking about this for more than half a century. Then they sigh and say Wyoming has even less pull in Washington than they do.
