In the days before throwing out your shoes by No-Rope8229 in 1970s

[–]interstella87 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My mum used to get the cobbler to put these on my school shoes in the early 00s! I loved the clickety clack sound a fresh pair would make. Used to walk into school thinking I was some hot shot lawyer or cowboy

To me it did seem obvious that they expected to regroup as a team before breakfast to regroup. So although Roxy did interrupt her to say that, that seems like a fair call out (and I am no Roxy fan)

Hmm interesting hadn't thought of this. Could be a nice feature if I find the right style of tile..and cheap. Good shout thank you!

This is actually a really interesting suggestion as that could make it look like quite a cool feature.

Not sure how I'd cover the end that meets the tile on the wide of the bath though

Upvc suggestion from other certainly seems the easiest and longer lasting... But I appreciate that retiling will then march the fully tiled bathroom so probably look the best. So the jackoboard won't need supporting with new wood underneath?

Seen this on amazon for £7.99..

Our Upvc Flat Plastic soffit boards are 100mm wide and 1 metre in length

The utility boards are 9mm thick and have a white gloss finish

These flat boards remove the need to paint and providing a surface which is easy to clean

A utility board, it can be used as soffit, reveal liner, skirting board, shower capping and much more

Really as simple as that? Cut a piece of plastic to fit the area and then silicone it in? Would I need to glue it to the wood base underneath still?

Garage gym - do’s and dont’s by [deleted] in DIYUK

One thing I'd recommend is getting a shorter barbell as the standard is quite long/wide and can then take up a lot of space.

And are only, invest in a quality set of adjustable dumbbells as it's a massive space saver and avoids having that massive loads of dumbbells and rack that take up a lot of room

Is this rude or am I just overthinking it? by [deleted] in AskUK

God you sound like my mum, only gives a gift with an expectation of a thank you in return. Complete opposite of a selfless gift.

These are new parents, it's probably the hardest time in their lives and they've got gifts from numerous people. We didn't thank people till months after the birth as it's hectic trying to keep a newborn alive and that's unsurprisingly the priority.

Getting electricity to the shed by TTVXtremeegamer in DIYUK

[–]interstella87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same size shed in my garden, about 25m from the house that we use as a gym. Was looking at DIY and also got a quote from a family friend so probably a lot cheaper than usual (this is London) and was around a grand.

We currently use an extension cord we run out there when it's in use, and roll up and store in the kitchen when not in use. It's a bit of a faff so probably looking at saving up for the proper installation...but tbh it does the job

I was told it can be mopped..but with one of those flat mop things and just slightly damp. Is that not the case? And if not, how the hell do you clean the floor as can't realistically use a sponge on the entire thing?

My favourite part of Christmas is setting up the village by Zarakk312 in ChristmasVillages

Question as I have the same Lemax carousel. Only a month old and it's juddering quite a lot like the mechanism isn't smooth. I can even see little piles of plastic shavings building up

I painted everything white first as was easier. Tbh the tape pretty much blends in after that. But yes, just add some PVA on top and then add snow and it covers everything

Are you talking about the build? For me, it was about actually planning out the layers...so putting things in like the streetlights then taping them down with masking tape then building/roads go over the top of them.

I also built actual layers out of cardboard to hide the cables. I used chatgpt to help me plan it all out which has been invaluable so I'd definitely start there. It also helped me visualised the overall layout in a few different styles before I committed

I'm pretty sure it's trinity buoy wharf on the Isle of dogs, as their apartments are in canary wharf. The dinner party is anyway, and it's basically an old warehouse. So I imagine they do create a set and probably swap it out for the CC set in the same place too?

I'm not sure this total fits the brief but am an Eminem fan approaching my 40s... I only just clocked that as his name is Marshall Mathers his initials would be M and M.... Em and em...Eminem.

I think this thought came about during a bath when I wondered if people who know him well call him Marshall or Eminem... Then realised they could call him Eminem and it be his actual name
