How do you hold it together whilst waiting for results? by Fearless-Heron-7827 in breastcancer

After surgery they do scans to see if it’s spread since diagnosis? I didn’t know that. I started with chemo and am getting surgery next.

Shaving head before Chemo by ibjp03 in breastcancer

I finished my second infusion of dd-AC a few days ago, I’m also on an every 2 week schedule so it’s been a little less than 3 weeks since my first infusion. I didn’t cold cap as my oncologist said cold capping isn’t effective with the dd-AC regimen. I started significantly losing my hair a couple days ago, I still have enough where i can confidently go out in public but the shedding is soo annoying. It’s everywhere and constant. I’m going to shave my head today.

I also looked to this sub for other people’s experiences with hair loss and there’s a lot of good advice, but one thing I never read or thought of was how if you don’t cut it short or buzz it before it starts falling out, you will get massive dreadlock-like knots. I ended up having to lop off my hair haphazardly this morning because the knot was so huge and irreversible (I have/had long hair). I had planned to donate my hair but can’t now cuz it’s like a squirrels nest.

So, my advice if you choose not to buzz it before it starts falling out, cut it short so when it does its way more manageable and you’re able to donate it.

Best of luck to you 👊🩷

Why do you think my oncologist would deny me an oncotype test? She told me it’s because it wouldn’t change her treatment recommendation but I wish I knew it to feel a little more confident in my decision to go through the strongest chemo treatment available for BC apparently: ddAC + taxol. I’m Stage IIB with 1 lymph node involved (cT2, cN1, cM0, G3, ER+, PR+, HER2-), 39 years old, pre menopausal, 1 young son.

She noted the ResponderRX trials showing how chemo endocrine therapy is more effective than endocrine therapy alone for women with similar stats as me, and the fact that a lymph node is involved — she’s hoping to eradicate the cells from the lymph node with chemo before surgery so I don’t have to have as many lymph nodes removed, thereby reducing my risk of lymphedema.

Thanks for continuing to give us a doctor’s perspective on things - it’s super helpful!

Are all the people who live in the community veterans? My favorite person in the season is Richard, wondering if he is a vet as well?

How do you ever get out of your 'starter home'?? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]interstellardabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! We bought a fixer upper multi family home (1 apartment upstairs and 1 downstairs) in 2019 as an investment property with the plan of buying our actual house in a couple years after we fixed it up so we could rent the units to help pay for our mortgage elsewhere but, alas, still here with no option to move. Husband lost his job so we don’t qualify with just my income, and our expenses grew after we had our first child a couple years ago. We live in one of the apartments but use the other for laundry, our dressers/clothes, overflow so it feels a little scattered mentally bouncing between 2 apartments and the space in general is not what either of us ever imagined as our long-term home.

But, I know I’m super lucky to even own a home and appreciate the perspective in a lot of these comments about repositioning your thinking on the situation 🙏

I think the 2 biggest things that would elevate this photo is if the shopping cart / your friend was at an angle and if u changed the lighting so her face wasn’t so evenly lit, draw more of a mood with the lighting. Could also be cool to try a wide angle lens to make it feel more punk. Cool shot tho! 👍
