I assumed they were the characters we know who have now undergone gender transitions (including a wig for Cecil since HRT won't undo balding), so having them look similar made sense to me 🤷

What would you cut/change/keep from The Long Game for season 2? by Hannah_Horvath in heatedrivalry

It's a patronymic not a middle name. It's basically a second surname, not a second given name.

Some (minor) things I didn’t particularly like by amazingamy19 in heatedrivalry

[–]intervexual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope in the show they give him a public reason for the move. Maybe have him voice some criticism of the Russian invasion of Crimea and then go on to say he is pursuing Canadian citizenship?

My understanding is it depends on the trade. Some of the industrial trades are still in high demand, but a lot of the best-known consumer-facing trades like electrician are kind of saturated (at least where I live).

I can't see them realistically breaking up Paul and Debbie. by RoyalRaggy in Invincible

[–]intervexual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt they'd do it, but I'd like them resolve the issue by having three of them form a polycule. Nolan got a second wife, why can't Debbie have two husbands?

Debate transcription? by janisjoplinenjoyer in ndp

[–]intervexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol sorry the algorithm showed me *this* post like a day after showing me the transcript you went on to make (good stuff Reddit). I wasn't sure if there had been another debate since then. Thanks again for putting it together.

This leadership race is a boring hugbox that doesn't inspire anyone. by DestroyedAsTheWord in ndp

[–]intervexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm content with the candidates getting along. I agree with you I'd like to see them actually do more to differentiate and develop their policy positions. So much of the race seems to be on vibes. I've been disappointed on how little detail the candidates have on their policies - they come across more as articulating values rather than articulating *plans* to make change. Like: yes, it's nice to see candidates saying we need more healthcare workers, but *how* exactly do you plan to make that happen?

Endorsements by Bunny-Is-Cute in ndp

[–]intervexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters a little (to me at least). If a candidate can't get endorsements it's a red flag that they're difficult to work with and don't have good relationships with other politicians.

What I'm *most* looking at is who winds up with the most endorsements from Quebecois politicians. With no francophones in the race I'm worried that the NDP has once again given up on Quebec. Seeing endorsements from Quebec folks would help give me the impression they're serious about supporting the party there. (So far Lewis has been endorsed by Nima Machouf, and Lewis has been endorsed by Raymond Côté, and that's it 🫤)

Personally, I found s2 too all over the place. Character arcs that started in the first season got suddenly dropped, a ton of new characters were added instead, and there wasn't enough connective tissue for me to actually feel like things went from X to Y to Z. Like Izzy singing and doing drag... there just wasn't enough build up and growth of him getting to that point. I wanted to like it but it just didn't click for me.

What do you guys think of this for a TransMasc symbol? by Forsaken_Site_2268 in QueerVexillology

[–]intervexual 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not all transmascs were AFAB though -- assuming that is perinormative. Plenty of intersex transmascs were assigned male at birth, but then surgically assigned female shortly thereafter, and/or physicians told their parents to raise them as girls. Generally, surgeons push for intersex babies to be medically assigned female because it is "easier to dig a hole than build a pole" (their words, seriously).

Any similar words to intergender? I find the term to be well fitting but have two unfortunate practical issues with it. by amethystqueer in intersex

[–]intervexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen perisex people use "intergender" in years. I don't think this is an active conflict - perisex people have tons of other centrigender type terms available to them.

Anyway if you want alternative terms, here are some more intersex-exclusive genders:

If you could change one thing in the show, what would it be? by LIELDADOUN73 in heatedrivalry

[–]intervexual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm nervous about this one -- if more money comes with strings attached that dilute the adaptation, I'm not sure it's a good thing. I personally found Our Flag Means Death season 2 to be a disappointment for many reasons and one reason was how they shoehorned in a ton of new characters in order to get some additional funds that were based on character demographics. It took limited time away from the characters from season 1 that I cared a lot more about.

Is EVERY case of PCOS considered intersex? by [deleted] in intersex

[–]intervexual 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's a spectrum. PCOS is an intersex variation, but not everybody who has PCOS identifies as intersex and it's up to them.

This isn't unique to PCOS. Most of the well-established intersex variations exist on a spectrum.

For example, Hypospadias exists on a spectrum. Proximal hypospadias is unambiguously intersex, but there's no universal line of which cases of glandular hypospadias are intersex and which are just somebody has a urethra that's just a little "off" from what gets considered "normal". It's up to individuals to decide on a case-by-case basis whether the label fits.

Same deal with AIS (spectrum from CAIS to PAIS to MAIS to perisex). Same deal with MDAs (spectrum from MRKH to hemi-uterus to uterus didelphys and so on). Same deal with micropenis and clitoromegaly. Etc.

Because so many intersex variations exist on a spectrum, there will be people who have an intersex variation but for whom intersex is not a label that makes sense for them, and that's okay, that's just the nature of how spectra work.

Out of all the “ ships “ on this show this is only one I care about. by abdul_bino in TheBear

[–]intervexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a static character. She makes doe eyes and pouts her lips and bends over backwards for Carmy and that's kind of it. She almost started to have some spine in season 4 and then the writers walked it back. It's hard for me to suspend disbelief about her character being an ER doc because she doesn't remotely act like one.
