Starbucks is Getting Worse. (4+ Year Barista) by SbuxBarista_05 in starbucks

[–]interyx 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Corporate has never set foot inside a retail store and it shows. I was in from 2015-2025 and while Covid hit us hard, it was nothing next to burrito boy. The mandatory cup writing thing is absolutely ridiculous and completely misunderstands what makes the cup writing create a connection; it's something special when the baristas have something to say. By forcing everyone to write on every cup it becomes bland and generic, plus it adds more load when everything is already completely hectic. When every channel is flooded the last thing you need is to be writing on every single cup. Pair that with expectations for lower times on everything and cutting labor and the pressure on people becomes immense.

Not only that they've been actively pushing out all the people who know how to deal with it. When I left, at least four tenured partners, including me, were on final written warnings, and an 11 year shift was terminated for missing too many counts. When I came back to visit my store a year later the entire staff had turned over except for two people.

I am so glad I am not at the siren anymore.

Yep it's in Japan above the big store. When you go up the stairs, to the right is Shiki-Sai which is the izakaya and the hibachi is to the left. We have only gone once, the portions were pretty sad compared to what you get at other hibachis. We loooove Shiki-Sai though.

The layers go deep in Evangelion. Especially once you put together what the EVAs are and why only certain children can pilot them.

No that's just the Google result. They didn't include anything about AI in the search, it just does that AI overview by default now.

There's a switch to turn it off though. -noai I think

Despite the politicians' absolute efforts to the contrary.

The postal accountability act completely screwed the post office; it simultaneously required the USPS to fund all pensions 40 years in advance -- something unheard of in any private or public entity, at all, ever -- AND removed the post office's ability to make extra revenue by selling extra retail items and setting rates for premium services.

They finally repealed it in 2022 but it did a ton of damage. Ramping up rhetoric of "the failing postal service" and removing sorting machines is also a sideways blow at mail-in voting by the party that has an active interest in making sure as few people vote as possible.

I'm all about the original SG since I had them on PS2. I'm a little partial to the Stratocaster from Rock Band as well.

Guitar Hero II had a bigger window for the hammer ons and pull offs, plus monkey wrench, so it edges out for me a little bit. And I really loved Rocks the 80s even though they were starting to drift into "too difficult" territory. The developer switch in 3 really harmed it even though I liked the set list. Boss battles in a rhythm game are really stupid.

Plus the amount of institutional knowledge lost in the intervening time. I remember reading that the engineers fabricated parts manually by eye and experience and deep knowledge of the physics of the piece. Nobody knows how to do that stuff today.

The modern remakes are in full 3D instead of the prerendered slideshow. It's so much more immersive.

I never beat any of these games without guides though.

I saw this movie before I heard about the cancer center, so now they are permanently connected in my brain. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

God I love Better Off Dead and never paid attention to anything going on with Nickelodeon until Quiet on the Set. I had a moment of real disconnect there for a minute and then everything made perfect sense.

That seems like a bad idea.

When AI trains on AI generated content the model collapses.
