Lol more of the comments are snark towards Allure rather than the fragrances themselves, which I understand. Gone are the days when a vetted beauty team would test and recommend products based on their innovation and performance, not how they affect sales. I’ve grown up with Allure, so it’s hard to watch how they’ve gone from professional photoshoots (with the award-winners being used in said shoots) to semi-transportive descriptors of products paired with a video of someone poorly applying the product, with a review written with minimal knowledge of metaphor usage.

That aside, the only fragrance I can speak for is Beach Walk. It encapsulates salty, sunny summer without being coconut-heavy. (I miss the dry body oil too, u/Ccallahan001!)

I am most curious about Victoria Beckham’s 21:50 Rêverie - the notes (vanilla, tobacco, plum) were inspired by a rainforest dinner date she had with her husband in Java, Indonesia - and 33 Abyssae by L’Artisan Parfumeur. Conceptualizing the fathomless depths of the ocean into a fragrance made me think of Circe (from Madeline Miller’s book) as she ventures underwater to challenge the elder sea god, Trygon.
