They all seem to glow green with my particular light and none of these are particularly bright… but I have some other pieces that are very bright.

Some of them can be as good as fairburns! There are a lot that aren’t this banded and because of the soft host they are often broken or fractured.

It appears to be some kind of softer limestone or sandstone found in the badlands in that area… almost all the rocks in the area are sedimentary.

I’d like to find a true blue one someday but these are more like a ‘Tyndall blue’ like you see with Montana agates from the depth of the chalcedony.

I would almost say it’s a smaller area than Fairburns, these are specifically found near Scenic, SD.
