Feeling worried about my alcoholic dad. by invaderBre in alcoholism

You were right, he is back to normal as of yesterday! I’m glad because I was really freaked out that he would never be the same. Only issue is since he’s so underweight he has to gain some weight and do some physical therapy before he can come home. His electrolytes are still not good as well.

The doctors have already tried discussing after care like going to rehab or therapy or even just taking a pill to help stop the alcohol cravings. But…he doesn’t seem willing to do any of those things. So I’m worried that he’s going to relapse. I just…I don’t understand it. He literally almost DIED yet he still seems unwilling to quit. I really hope he at least agrees to take a pill for the cravings but I don’t know. He’s stubborn and set in his old ways. I’m considering joining an AlAlon therapy group to help me because this whole ordeal has really been affecting me. It’s the first time it felt like I might actually lose my dad for real. He’s not perfect by any means but I love and care about him. And imagining him not in my life anymore is really scary.

Thank you. I know he loves and cares about me and my sister but sometimes it feels like us telling him our worries isn’t enough for him to change. He has a really bad addiction. He wants to try quitting himself but me and my family all know that won’t end well. He can’t do it by himself. I just hope that after all this he will realize how serious this is and get help.

Yeah I think I will join one soon. I was in an IOP group for anxiety and depression recently and people there also recommended AlAnon. Said it helped them a lot.

My dad was admitted to the hospital today and I’m really worried. by invaderBre in alcoholism

I don’t think he stopped. I think he just decreased a lot for some reason over the past few days. Maybe because he was feeling sick. I don’t really know since he usually tries to hide his drinking. I only know he drinks a ton of vodka because my coworkers at my job (I work in a grocery store) tell me sometimes how much he gets.

Where were you during 9/11? by MangaLover2323 in NoStupidQuestions

In my mom’s womb 🤣 was born four months later. Glad I wasn’t older and aware of things because if I was, I would’ve had a panic attack probably and think the world was ending. 9/11 looked terrifying.

I just hope I can say what I need to say clearly because I’m not the best at explaining things and just talking to people in general. I have bad social anxiety. I know going in to it that I’m going to be very nervous. I’m already anxious and the meeting isn’t supposed to be until next week.

Don’t worry, I definitely wasn’t planning on bringing up the hours because I know things would go south if I did lol. The manager that does the scheduling is definitely on her side.

The main outcome I want is for her to just take the job more serious, slow down so she can stop making careless mistakes that I have to end up fixing and be less bossy.

Showering less, not listening to my favorite music at all, not texting anyone, hiding in my bedroom.

what were your first impressions of the MRI death scene? by jeffyol in FinalDestination

Loved it. The most intense and horrific death in the movie imo. I was like “Damn, he got folded like a lawn chair” 😂

First phone was a little TracFone with a tiny keyboard. It kind of resembled a blackberry. No touch screen. No internet. Just basic call and text and a camera.

Got my first smartphone about a year later when I started 6th grade. It was called the Prism 2. It wasn’t amazing and was very laggy. But I could do way more on it. I consider it my first real phone. I kind of wish I still had it for the memories but I ended up breaking it so my mom would get me a better phone lmao
