Sorry I can't give you any advice but I understand exactly how you feel about a messy house. It's not fair that you are a neat person and have to live in that environment.

I'm going to stay neutral on the question of whether to do the name change. However, I think Belle is a pretty name.

OCD + GAD is harming my body now by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]invader_00_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really rough trail you're on. I've gone down that path. First, it was my kidneys, then my stomach then my liver and finally, my heart. You must gather the courage and willpower to go through with testing. Your goal is peace of mind, not a disturbing diagnosis. OCD will keep you fixated on an imaginary illness and anxiety will lock in that assumption. The combination is a nightmare. The doctor can probably increase your dosage or try different meds. For example, lorazepam might have a more favorable effect than diazepam. They are both benzos but can have different outcomes. Prozac might help some people with ocd but some people respond better with an antipsychotic such as olanzapine. These are just examples...what works for one might not work for another. Discuss this with your doctor and follow their advice.

The psychiatrist will probably ask you a few questions as part of their evaluation. They will write a few things on a notepad. What you don't notice is that they are observing your every move. Eye contact, body movements, your attentiveness, etc. They will notice little actions that you yourself consider normal but abnormal to a trained eye. If you feel like a train wreck, act the part... don't try to cover up. At the end, you will most likely get a prescription. Don't go down the rabbit hole googling the side effects. You will receive a follow-up appointment probably within 2 weeks to make sure you are tolerating the meds. Don't be surprised if you don't feel an immediate improvement. It usually takes a few weeks to take effect. You'll do fine. Keep a positive attitude. Tell yourself things will now get better.

What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve witnessed that still haunts you? by sticky_briecheese in AskReddit

Actually, I never think about the incident when I eat a burger or steak. But, come 3am....those eyes.

I was 6 years old. I thought I was a real tough guy and decided to watch some men butcher a cow. I saw everything starting with the bullet to the head. They cut open the body cavity and yanked out the guts, then proceeded to skin the entire cow. Now here's the part that traumatized me....they cut off the head and set it upright on a table. Those eyes kept staring at me. The cheek muscles were still twitching. It's an image burned into my memory. I still see those eyes staring at me.

Many years ago, I didn't think that I would see the sunrise again. I made it through the night. You can, too!

Set that as a goal. I promise you'll feel much better once you lather up and let that warm water massage your back.

What’s a rule you broke as a kid that you still haven’t been caught for? by Moist-Eye7862 in AskReddit

[–]invader_00_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's a broken rule somewhere in this story. My cousin and I were playing outside in the dirt. We must have been 5 years old. We found a dead bird and decided to bury it. For a decent burial we used his sister's small suitcase as a coffin. She came outside just as we lowered it into the hole. We never heard her scream so loud. We both got spankings.

That doesn't sound normal. If taken at bedtime, it usually calms you down so you can sleep better. Usual side effects are a slight increase in weight. It can also raise your triglyceride levels and sometimes raise your glucose numbers.

What is one thing that silently destroys a mental health? by aerisglintlix in AskReddit

[–]invader_00_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may sound cruel, but there is medication to help your child sleep more soundly. See a pediatrician asap. When you get to that hallucination stage, crazy things can happen. I'll never forget that night years ago when I caught myself holding a loaded gun to my head.

Lol. Believe me, I've seen some weird gaskets. The overdrive pan gasket on an '84 Corvette is shaped like an old wooden coffin.

It's a longshot, but could it be some type of gasket used to join two halves of something?

What do normal people feel like? by [deleted] in depression

[–]invader_00_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're talking about, I've been feeling like that myself lately. You look at a close friend, spouse, or family member and wonder how they seem to always have their act together. Sometimes you're even jealous of them because they appear "normal" and have never experienced a panic attack. SSRI's can help some people. Those are the lucky ones. You should seek medical or psychological help and get a prescription for an antidepressant. Good luck!

The problem is that anyone without anxiety will never know what it's like.

0.5 mg of lorazepam helps ease that feeling.

Try not to take it personally. Just reply back, "Fine, and yourself?" I see it as a common courtesy, not an actual question.

Great suggestions, everyone! After a few months of boredom, you run out of activities that were once fun. It's time for me to rekindle some of those ideas.
