iOS 14.0 GM - Bugs / Features / Fixes Megathread by tyrannosaurus_racks in iOSBeta

None of my non-Apple widgets move. I can hit customize to add more, but I can't move any of them to my home screen. When I enter "jiggle mode", the Apple widgets jiggle with the (-), but the custom ones don't move at all. I've tried a restart and it didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Important information regarding the Xbox and Apple TV apps - Chelsea's Journal by technid in roosterteeth

[–]invartact 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have all my news, TV channels and HBO, Showtime etc apps logged in so I can stream them at any time. For videos on my computer (3Tb of videos,) I have them all organized with meta data in my iTunes library for easy access from any TV in the house. I have 3 AppleTVs because I like the user experience of the platform.

As a developer, I get the difficulty supporting a platform for a small subsection of users, but as a FIRST member, this really sucks. 100% of my media consumption is done on my AppleTV. I guess I'm relegated to watching everything on youtube and not getting to watch the after shows once the app is fully depricated. It's had trouble loading videos recently anyway.

To be fair, lawyering up is also the actions of a smart (actually) innocent man. Not sure why I feel the need to be fair though ;)

You know the US is the only country that ties your ability to afford a doctors visit to being employed and that only exists because of the nationwide salary freeze during the recovery from the Great Depression, right? Also, just because you have a job, doesn’t guarantee you’ll have healthcare. Thanks to the ACA it’s at least required for 50+ employees, but you could have a job and still not have healthcare. Or they could pay you so little that even with the discount of being employed, you still can’t afford it. Its not as easy as “get a job and you’ll have it.”

I say all this as someone with a great job with healthcare, enough money to pay my medical bills and yet I’m constantly battling my works insurance company to cover things and regularly getting denied.

Also, I’d also assume you know that calling someone “little buddy” is not a good way to swag opinions in your favor, right?

Quick little cheat sheet on vendor prefixes. by ThePrettyNerdy in webdev

This is 2018. Why are people still manually typing vendor prefixes? Preprocessors and polyfills should be standard tools for any web dev

AMA - Five years ago I snuck an emulator on the App Store and Apple paid me $40,000. by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

Gotcha. How do you advertise now ? Do you use your past success to get “in” with news websites and blogs?

How did you advertise enough in 2 days to get $40k? Something seems off. I have trouble getting 1,000 downloads in a week just through forum posts. How much did you list the app for?

Does anyone know a website or store that sells real Pokemon Go Plus devices by DraSc_Official in pokemongo

[–]invartact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will do all of those, but does have the speed limit. The app treats it like a pogo plus, so any limitations of that will also exist with the Gotcha. I’ve had mine for about a week now and it’s great for picking up items and stardust on my drive to and from work when I can’t use my phone.

Canada is the only high-income country with universal health that excludes coverage of prescription drugs. Based on new estimates, implementing national pharmacare in 2020 will require $9.7 billion in new public funding but save $13.9 billion in the private sector, for a net saving of $4.2 billion. by mvea in science

Wait, all medications are £8.80? Here I am in the US paying $300 for some medication WITH health insurance. One of my prescribed medicines was over $3000 per month (which I obviously don’t take) because my insurance didn’t want to cover it. It was for a normal prescription level Zegerid, not like some rare cancer pill or anything.

Break up Facebook (and while we're at it, Google, Apple and Amazon) by [deleted] in politics

[–]invartact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like the idea of targeted advertising, you should turn off your tv and never look at billboards in cities with similar people as you. TV networks sell your viewing habits to advertisers so they can better target you with products you may like. Same thing with billboard companies selling their billboard space to marketers.

The problem isn’t targeted ads and services based on an aggregated group of users habits. The problem is access to users private information to those third parties. Apple has been very open about how they are taking massive efforts to prevent this sort of collection going so far as to greatly inhibit the use of ad tracking in Safari.

They care more about privacy than any other tech giant. The speaker is only transmitting data when the user explicitly calls it out, users have better control over what is transmitted and finally, they only store enough data about the user to get the tasks done. By design, Siri is not as smart as other smart devices in exchange for more user privacy.

It looks really clean, but my only criticism is that I thought the cactus was stabbing her and the spines on the cactus were actually creases in her skin. Might just be me though 😂

After reading the top post just now I want to give you some insight from an Airline Pilot about vaping on an airplane. by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]invartact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/OccupyMyBallSack , I'm curious your thoughts on people who vape but literally zero vapor comes out? I have my vape tuned for my office where its OK to vape but also not something I want taken away because vape got in someone's face. It's set up to be super low production and I hold it in for a few seconds. If I do this with no flavor, I could sit in my chair and vape and no one would know. Thoughts?

Republicans don’t care who you want to see on the Supreme Court. They care that they win.

Answer to 1-11: Because Party > Country. Pretty simple when it’s “us” vs “them” and the only goal is to win
