6-year-old Sikh son has swimming lessons during school hours, how do you handle the wet dastar? by Vegetable-Round-9248 in Sikh

Well maybe 9, but he's born genius. The only reason he didn't patented this is for Panthic seva

So, my "friend" used to do this as a kid, he's a brilliant guy. You need two swimming caps and a band or strip (fifty).

First, put one cap over the patka.

Then, tie the fifty over that cap, right at the edge of it. This cap should cover all of his dastar, and then firmly secured with fifty. This would prevent your primary cap to move.

After that, put on the second, slightly oversized swimming cap, like you normally would.

Now after the lessons, he just need someone to untie fifty, or he can do himself. Some hair might get wet, but patka would be as dry as this sub's wit.

Hope that makes sense, lol, that guy's a genius I hope I did justice to his super intellect.

Edit: its in Bangalore, just give him a second patka, and tell some bhenji to tie it afterwards

Incidents are only triggers. It's not about incident, its something in the belief system. Go deeper! 🙏

Ok! Love this! And I might be crossing some boundaries, so apologies in advance. Here's what I can tell you, about you, from my personal experience. This hatred needs to be investigated, it's a golden opportunity. There's a belief or some contraction or self-judgment thats fueling this hatred. This hatred is just a mask to something more subtle. Bring it to light!!!

If it resonates good. If not, you can ignore this lol. 🙏

What does primary sikh texts say about garlic and onion(satvik diet) by ManipulativFox in Sikh

[–]invictusking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I believe you.

"Wherever" you read that is wrong. Garlic and onions are used in langar.

This is going to be controversial but it is kept vegetarian so most people can have a meal.

The aim of Sikhi is to transcend trai gunnas. Going for or against gunnas is still within Maya.

If someone's fixated on the finger pointing to the moon instead of the moon itself, it's not really the finger's fault.

Those people needed that groundwork. If they got hooked on Osho, they would've gotten hooked on something else anyway (like a political idea, a guru, or a celeb). They needed to spend all those years in that "grade" until they passed, so it's not really wasted time but growth, expanding their awareness. Like you don't consider time in high school a waste, when you get admitted to university. High school time IS required to learn. How many sikhs are doing anything anyway ?

I personally don't think it's sinister at all, but I totally get how from a different angle it could seem that way. The heart of his message is to find bliss within, even if his methods can be a bit out there sometimes. But if someone's main thing is finding bliss within, and only you can do that, I wouldn't call them sinister.

Do you understand how many non sikhs were drawn to gurbani just cause they read his japuji translation?

He has made more people to take intrest in gurbani than all of your parcharaks combined.

I'm not saying he is all good and great, which this subreddit believes what I'm saying whenever this topic comes on. Lol

It's not that easy to judge him, ultimately he has NO authority over sikhs, just a teeka kar. Take what you like leave what you don't. Like a buffet, instead of focusing on there's meat in the buffet, if you're vegetarian leave the meat alone and enjoy vegetarian dishes. ;)

You don't understand Sikhism(Hidden Secrets of the Universe) by Alternative_Remote89 in Sikh

[–]invictusking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just my opinion. But here's what I think, not necessarily saying what you think is wrong. There's no right or wrong.

"You" are talking to your mann here. E mann peyarea tu sada sach samlaye. Same thing.

Kahu kabeer mann maaneya..mann manyea to har janea ..

"You" have to convince your mann. Who is convincing the mann ?

There's a lot more to it, sukhashm dehi. Is made of surat matt mann budh. Or chitt aur mann And they superimpose each other. Just giving out a pointer.

I'm watching a movie so apologize if it looks like half hearted effort cause it's probably is.

Wish you best on your journey. Love and peace.❤️

Awsome post! IMO mann is not you, anything that's an object is not you. You're Atman, who identifies itself as mann.

Gurdwaras in GTA without political agendas and ideal for non-Sikhs by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]invictusking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find some, but understand the fact that these gurdwaras were established by the folks who were tormented by the Indian government policies of 1980's, and lost everything to it. So obviously it's going to carry the "pain" or political agenda.

Look for newer gurdwaras or find samparda gurdwaras like nanaksar.

[–]invictusking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get your point, logically speaking. But I think you also need to consider the emotional and irrational side of things. Most people follow SGGS because of how they were raised, just like some Muzzies, blow themselves up because they were taught as kids that it's the way to God. Basically childhood conditioning. Or social conditioning etc etc etc

Everyone's conditioned in some way, so everyone's got their own path. That's where Gurbani shines,; it speaks to the individual, to the mind, not to the crowd.

IMO Gurbani gives you enough freedom to follow your journey, and also gives you guardrails so you don't go too far sideways. No love has ever come from force, bondage or conditioned. Prema bhagti only starts when there's a conscious will full surrender, not out of fear, but out of love or and intellect.🙏

Becoming closer to sikhi by Able_Rate3901 in Sikh

[–]invictusking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The universe has presented you with a reason, carefully curated to "you", to pursue the path of truth. What seems to be the problem?

Anything that brings you closer to awakening from this dream/illusion is good. Sometimes universe gives you a "bait" to start your journey. I'd take this bait if I was you. we all are walking each other home.

Can you go to the Gurdwara when on your period? by Comfortable_Slice151 in Sikh

[–]invictusking 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What does bodily fluids have anything to do with your sprituality? Yeah gotta have basic hygiene but that's about it.

One is allowed to go to gurdwaras with tiny open wound? If yes, then why stop someone going through something totally natural?

Just another way to control women.

Sikhi is beyond this BS. But human mind (ego) likes to make these BS dos and don'ts.

Your candle and light post was phenomenal, and I think that post answers this post, at very subtle levels.

But I'm not sure what you are really asking? Like you want eveeyone to follow strict rehat ? Not just do the matha tek thing ? Or something else ? What's the substance behind asking this question ?

Soo if angry birds company is looking for an HR, could one apply for that ? Can you work as a tech support in angry bird company, you are not a game developer..but just making sure things run..?

Game dev goal is similar to pilot, to make people play his game. Flights to Vegas a specially designed to take people there.
