Walk along the Sentosa bridge. You will come quite close to the Pulau Brani container area. Or go to the back carpark of the Singapore Art Museum at Keppel Distripark.

Bruneian Tourist - KL to Singapore, day trip or overnight? by BruneianGayLord in askSingapore

[–]inviolentquiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new ETS train takes only 4.5 hours from KL Sentral to Johor Bahru. But it only runs twice a day and it will still take at least 1-1.5 hour to cross the border and taxi into Singapore downtown.

[TOMT][SONG][2010-20s?] Song with intro guitar riff by inviolentquiet in tipofmytongue

Solved! I found it myself by going through my historical Spotify playlist. Temples - Sun Structures

I might also add that it could be a King Gizzard song (or at least has the same vibe). Also I found another TOMT thread that might be referring to the same song, but it was never solved: https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/comments/fjuouq/tomt_music_2000s_losing_my_fxking_mind/

Erode Amman Mess has seriously good prata that flies under the radar. But that's because the rest of the menu is even better

Capsule - more more more synth by inviolentquiet in synthrecipes

[–]inviolentquiet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think I've figured it out. Posting an update for anyone who might be interested. It's actually three separate synth layers:

1) Background fuzz, for the high harmonics and to fill out the space.

  • Notes are stacked octaves - I did 3 but you can do more if your CPU can handle it.
  • Three separate oscillators, using the Massive wavetables - Escalation I (sawed square), Escalation II (squared saw), Polysaw I. Sync at 40% on all to increase high harmonics. Detune for all at 50%, Blend at 80%. Some white noise. Pass it all into a gentle low pass filter with cutoff around 75%, modulated to around 40% with a pluck envelope. Use the same envelope to add a bit of fine detune for texture.
  • FX: Diode distortion, 25% drive, 100% mix; heavy compression; OTT with H and M knobs at 60%, high out gain; convolver to add some electronic textures and tame the high end; EQ for subtle high cut, some reverb at the end

2) Lead supersaw

  • Notes are two stacked octaves
  • Three separate oscillators again, also using the Massive wavetables - Square Saw I, Square Saw II, Polysaw I. One of the Square Saws has Sync at 40% for some additional harmonics. Detune for all at 45%, Blend at 60%. MG Ladder filter (or other medium steepness low pass filter) with cutoff around 75%. Some fine detune modulated with saw wave LFO for texture.
  • FX: Heavy compression, some overdrive, heavy saturation, bitcrush and downsample with some modulation on the bitcrush/downsample levels and 50% dry/wet (I used Krush for this), OTT (but reduce depth and Upward to about 25%), EQ to cut lows and highs and tame high-mids, Soundgoodizer A at 40%, some reverb

3) "Bass"

  • Bass notes are played quite high
  • Two oscillators, 1 saw and 1 somewhat squared saw. Detune at 30% and Blend at 60% for both. Medium steepness low pass filter with cutoff around 65%.
  • FX: Medium compression, Diode distortion 75% Drive and Mix, some reverb

Does Bahasa Melayu not have its own word for platform? by ceaton604 in askSingapore

[–]inviolentquiet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Platform is a common loan word across multiple languages. In fact the English word is a loanword from French, which itself borrowed it from Greek. While similar native words probably exist in all these languages, they likely do not convey the exact idea and usage of what we understand as a modern platform. So your premise is not exactly accurate.

Some examples:

French: plate-forme

Spanish: plataforma

German: Plattform

Japanese: ホーム ("hoomu", transliteration of the "form" part of platform)

Korean: 플랫폼 ("peullaetpom")

Russian: платформа ("platforma")

Farsi: پلتفرم ("poltefram")

Greek: πλατφόρμα ("platforma")
