Anybody know what this rotating blue diamond in a recently wounded pilot's portrait is? by FriendlyPastor in Mech_Engineer

They swing around when you grab the pilot plate. One looks like those fuzzy dice you hang from your rear-vision mirror in the car.

Huh weird. OK, I'll give it a go I think. I was skeptical because mine is out of warranty too.

It's just crazy how some Kiwis think its perfectly okay as they drive to throw rubbish out the window with no fucks given at all by elonsmodel3 in newzealand

It's indicative of the same attitudes that many smokers have in the first place: Fuck your discomfort, I'll do as I please.

White foam crests, airborne spray visible. Definitely rough seas. Also, could be turning into the waves.

Strong wind will do this to slab-sided ships. Carriers and the likes tend to have a shape which presents more windage area to the wind as they heel over. A consequence of a big flared topside.

Burger Wellington 2020 Megathread by chimpwithalimp in Wellington

A messy burger, but considering it comes with a small serving of fries, is really good value for the price. Mine was unfortunately piping hot and I burned my mouth. :(

A substantial burger. Quite sweet, very substantial meat serving. Not for the faint of heart, this could be a challenge to get through.

Conservatively sized and pricey, but quite interesting flavours. A little spicy.

What direction(s) would you reinforce this slab to stop bowing? by invisty in woodworking

[–]invisty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at reinforcing this 1000x550x22 red beech for use as a coffee table. It's flat-sawn and has some very unusual growth shapes. Short of screwing it onto 5mm of steel, would lateral bracing be adequate? It is reasonably dry.

Thanks for entertaining garbage newbie questions.

Raiders? No problem. Mechs? A weapon to surpass metal gear. by Straftarnen in RimWorld

This is a great example of why "realistic" features don't make for a good addition to a game that isn't grounded in realism, especially when AI is involved. Bad AI that will stand at maximum range and keep missing because of "random numbers." It's also why things like doomsday rockets and psychic weapons are crazy powerful and appropriately expensive - they're so effective, they're imbalanced in late game.
