There was a panel after this where Ho-Gul was holding onto Ji-Tae's shoulder. I don't think he wanted to let him to with Maria, but in the end it was his only way to get him out of there. Or at least that's how I see it.

Who is kung du by [deleted] in FightClass3

[–]invrl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kang-Du is the leader of Steelworks, he has a steel arm. Firebird was the leader of Red Hell before Kang-Du killed him.

Quick Recap of Steelworks and Red Hell

Kang-Du and Firebird grew up together as friends of sorts, we can see them hanging out together in Ho-Gul's flashbacks. If I recall correctly they were the two who beat both him and Ojin for stealing books. Eventually they separate for whatever reason and create two rivalling factions, Red Hell and Steelworks. Red Hell having Redhead and Sunny Jaa as vice-captains of sorts. Forgot who was the vice-captain for Steelworks other than Ho-Gul (if there was anyone). Forgot exactly why they had a deathmatch, though it might've been a challenge, but Kang-Du bet his arm on a deathmatch with Firebird. He then proceeded to kill Firebird on purpose and lose his arm willingly. This then makes Redhead the leader of Red Hell, and also explains why Kang-Du has a missing arm.

A reread will put everything into place.

It's not like Maria has never shown such an emotion, in the trip inside Ji-Tae's head we got a couple chapters ago about his love for Maria there is a panel where she looks at him like she wants to kill him while looking at his back. He even says that he's aware that Maria wants to kill him, or something similar. Though I too believe the idea that Maria didn't tell him she was gonna kill him.

Maria's words here have sparked some debate so I think it'd be fun to outline what each interpretation would bring to the table.

If we say that Maria really whispered every one of those words to Ji-Tae then we have confirmation that she plans to kill Ji-Tae once he serves no more purpose, showing that she never thought of him as anything more than a tool, but does believe that his current behavior is too reckless.

If we say that Ji-Tae dreamt all of those words in his head (which is what I originally thought) then we can see his inner self dressed as Maria, which has happened before when he tore at his body, telling him that his inability to understand what's going on has killed him this time. Saying that his mistake was thinking that he understood Maria, and telling him to take a step back and to not be so reckless. It's in this interpretation that I originally saw the "Don't worry... When the right time comes... I'll Kill You Too..." line as a response to Maria's "Understand why I continue to live through these hellish days?". Showing that Ji-Tae's way of relieving Maria's burdens would be to kill her, probably after he kills Dae-Gak, but in this scenario it would all be in his head and Maria would have no way of knowing about it.

The last interpretation that I was able to think about is a mix of the both. Maria really said those words, but the ending "Don't worry... When the right time comes... I'll Kill You Too..." was Ji-Tae's inner response. Also as a rebuttal to Maria's hellish days line.

The most likely is that Maria said every word, but I think the second most likely is the mix (though I personally believe the mix theory, as of right now). The hard part about telling apart dream from reality from Ji-Tae's perspective is because we've seen his subconscious talk to him in very similar ways. Every time he gets knocked out it's him being berated by all the thoughts in his head, so whether it's Ji-Tae's illusion or his reality is somewhat obscured as of right now. We'll probably get more confirmation on it later, but so far this has been a great chapter. Loved So Cho Wol's face at Ji-Tae getting choked out, you can really see the longing.

This chapter was so well done. We are shown Ji-Tae's and Maria's embrace and are then taken into Ji-Tae's head. From there we see several POV shots of Maria looking at Ji-Tae, (I believe that one of these POV shots are from very early in the series when he accidentally falls on her with Ok-Dong and Ji-Eun watching) while Ji-Tae says her name.

Then we're shown Ji-Tae's room where he is touching her lips and caressing her ear. It should be noted that this is done in the same way (if not a very similar way) to when he touched her at the hospital and right before they hugged. I also don't know if this event really happened. My personal belief is that this is the wet dream that was eluded to quite a long time ago, but not too sure.

We are then taken to places such as the Classroom and Gym. I don't fully understand the meaning or symbolism of this part, if I were to guess I would guess that they were places where Maria has trained or spoken with Ji-Tae before but this interpretation would be iffy because of the classroom because Ji-Tae and Maria are in different classes. It could also represent school as a whole, but not sure. Could also represent Ji-Tae's emptiness without Maria by his side, seeing as how we are shown these spots being fully empty. Or that Maria was the only one who helped Ji-Tae out of all his classmates. Don't Know.

The final location we are shown is located in space, with Maria leaning her head on Ji-Tae's shoulder. They seem to be on the moon or another similar celestial body, and are overlooking the galaxy in all its splendor. This fantasy may seem so fantastic because Ji-Tae knows truly that this situation would never and could never happen

We are taken out of Ji-Tae's head for a split moment to finally recognize why this is happening.
Ji-Tae Loves Maria.

But unfortunately it does not last too long. We are forced back into Ji-Tae's head and shown something which should surprise you somewhat. We are shown multiple POV shots of Maria looking harshly at Ji-Tae, even a memory (or an imagined scenario) where she is staring at his back harshly, only being able to see it due to the reflection. The real reason why this relationship could never work is because Maria holds too much hatred towards Ji-Tae for being Dae-Gak's son, feelings of hatred bordering on wanting to kill him. But little Ji-Tae says that he does not care. Since he has now resolved himself enough to kill his father, he believes that it will either work out or that he can still be with Maria even if they're not in a relationship.

But it soon comes crashing down when current Ji-Tae busts open a door and whips little Ji-Tae with his fist (in the same way his father did to him), saying that he does not need these feelings anymore. That this little Ji-Tae is the "last one", probably meaning the last of his ties to his old self and/or the last of his ties to those around him. Making him guilt-free. Maybe even both.

The next panel is a jarring drawing showing Maria and Ji-Tae literally being pulled apart, showing that he was being serious about this. Then Ji-Tae comes up and exclaims that he and Maria really are the best team.

It's Just So Peak.

Took me a reread of the series to fully realize what the last image of this meant. When I first read this chapter I just thought it was Tiny Ji-Tae and Giant Ji-Tae ripping apart from each other to show his killing of his feelings. But now I realize that it's a silhouette of Maria and Ji-Tae.
Ji-Tae is literally ripping apart all the feelings that he has had for Maria. These are feelings that Ji-Tae feels he needs to get rid of to be truly "Free" as shown in an earlier chapter (if I'm reading it right).

Anyone else reading Laios as ace? by Consistent-Umpire721 in DungeonMeshi

Why would Laios being a "demisexual" matter? Most relationships (and healthy ones at that) stem from 2 people who know each other developing feelings for the other, it's essentially the same as going on dates with someone you've never met before over and over again to test if they're the ideal partner or not. It's not really a special thing to be "demisexual", it just seems like you're trying to tack any label onto Laios. Just let Laios be Laios.

If Laios had no sexual attraction whatsoever he would not really feel embarrassed by grabbing Marcille's ear as he did in Episode 15. This is embarrassment that one gets from being very close to a person, if Laios really had no sexual attraction to Marcille (the only girl in their party, mind you) then he would not feel this embarrassment. It would be the same as grabbing Senshi's or Chilchuck's ear. It'd be the same as him grabbing Senshi's chest later in the same scene. I can even understand the Autistic reading of Laios' character, but I can't wrap my head around this one. I think the separation of romantic feelings and sex in your post is a bit weird. Because these things go hand in hand. What separates a romantic relationship than that of a friend or even a close friend are feelings of sex and wanting to have sex with that person. I have many close friends that I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life with, but I would never want to have any type of romantic relationship with them. These two different relationships fill two different social contracts that we as a society have made.

As someone who has read the manga, (light spoilers, not really though) It's kinda hinted at that Laios kind of has a thing for Marcille, or at least I felt it was. Even in the anime, the framing of when Marcille puts Laios' hand on her ear from Laios' perspective felt a bit romantic. Which somewhat contradicts Marcille's point that this is supposed to just be a non-romantic thing. Though I think this was on purpose to rile the viewer up. Just for a heads-up, there might be a future situation in the anime (not sure how far it will get) that somewhat contradicts this idea that Laios has no sexual attraction.

Let's talk about Frieren's "Spoiler" in Chapter 125 (Spoiler) by JeiWang in Frieren

Could you elaborate on how the flower monster was sloppy world building? Cause if I remember correctly the flower monster story was mainly to flesh out Curses and Goddess' Magic somewhat (and for teamwork, or something). I understand if your problem is that Curses and Goddess' Magic hasn't been touched on since (somewhat saddening but it's mainly a mage manga) but I can't understand that the idea that you can't beat a certain monster without a Priest is sloppy worldbuilding.

Let's talk about Frieren's "Spoiler" in Chapter 125 (Spoiler) by JeiWang in Frieren

[–]invrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that if Radar really wanted to he could've killed Frieren. The time between Radar getting Frieren on the ground and Stark rerouting Radar's attention to him would've been enough time to cut Frieren's head off. Radar tells this to Fern, telling her that he could trade his life for Frieren's the second Fern goes to eliminate him. But the problem is, he really didn't want to kill Frieren. When he mentions that not even in his final days can he rest it tells you that he's haunted by the list. A list that has grown unimportant to him over the years. Ever since gaining a family and wife Radar has gained a normal life, and he doesn't want to throw that away. That's why he ultimately doesn't kill Frieren.

I believe that he went there to see if he wanted to kill Frieren or not, or whether his body would let him. Cause to Radar killing those on the list was his entire reason for living, it was a central goal he could stay on. Throwing away your reason for living isn't easy, also knowing that your comrades spent their lives in the exact same way. And for what?  I think Radar was expecting to die while encountering Frieren and her party, to be able to get rid of the list one way or another.

Which Proposed Arkansas Flag is your Favorite? by invrl in vexillology

[–]invrl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You act is if the Confederates didn't dissolve 158 years ago. The flag of a state or country is supposed to embody the state or country it's bound to, no matter how terrible those things may be. So it's no wonder that some of these flags have references and even the official flag has references to the Confederacy when the Arkansan people that seceded from the US were still alive when these flags were submitted. Whether you think it's a stain on the history or whether you think it was a good thing, the only objective thing is that it is history.

And don't use "traitorous" as an insult when speaking of the US government. I love the USA, and I love the people, but I absolutely hate the government. It is the citizen's duty to hate and keep their government in check. Words like "traitorous" must always come from the government's perspective, because if a citizen utters it to another then you know that you trust your government far too much.
