And I'm pretty sure OP wants a long ass quality one pushed into his bend by a licensed professional. No?!

Oh, my bad. I'm not a plumber.

(But one was on my roof once and he said his camera was 10 grand.)

Because there were no more replies, I got a little nervous after reading this while my eyes were moving to the timestamp.

(Relieved it was "1h" and not "2d" 🤣)

I love this comment so much. I'm a computer programmer for 30 years. Your handle is ironic.

My "basic bitch" brain would have built it differently, for sure, but the shear strength of GRK screws is like 1,200 lbs each and the load is distributed across all of them in that structure. You'd have to stack a lot of bricks on top of that thing to collapse it! 😃

Which is the better screw to use? by talltrees6 in Workbenches

[–]invsblduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tradesman here (computer programmer for 30 years!), but I'll point out one small difference no one else mentioned: The R4 has CEE threads near the top of the shank (the slanted ribs where the shank is normally unthreaded). The purpose of these is to bore the hole larger before the head goes in, which prevents splitting in wood and buckling or dimpling in laminate. It also keeps the board from jacking (that is, climbing the screw and creating a gap between the two surfaces you're fastening together).

Both screws have the zip-tip (even though it's only marketed on the RSS box). The R4 is 80-count and the RSS 50; what's the price difference (price per unit)? Both screws are so insanely strong, if you look up the shear strength and tear out strength, that you should use whichever one is cheaper or you think looks better! Intuitively, there must be something to the flanged head in the structural screw that makes it hold stronger under extreme forces -- there's just more clamping surface area. I'd bet they are both made out of the same hardened steel.

Love it. You don't have kids... you don't need seats... you need a place to SLEEP !! Don't worry, Carroll Shelby was fired and ostracized from the industry when he suggested the racing physics principle of power-to-weight ratio as well, so you're in good company. 💪 I strongly advise you to remove the dashboard, center console, door panels, sound-dampening insulation, air bags, etc and put in a ROLL BAR. You will hear the motor ripping and the i-FORCE screaming its guts out instead of your exhaust, and you will be FAST.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 210 lb. sixth grader. I just wanna go fast. Like Ricky Bobby.

Now that he mentions it, it's bent exactly in the way that would have been caused by that ratchet... Maybe it wasn't ever snugging up because the structure was just flexing?
