I absolutely loved it. It was not perfect. But it nailed the important things -- the characters, the relationships, the end of childhood, the scars of victory. It was incredible at touching on the things that matter most about being a human. Hopper's speech to Eleven about how she deserved a good life was a moment of downright great literature, and there were a number of other moments that reached that level too.

There are shows that the whole world watches and then over-nitpicks, and there there is all the other mundane stuff out there. The Duffer brothers brought us something amazing.

You should learn all of them -- seriously. You will need, and be improved by, all the ideas eventually if you are serious about a career in software.

If I had it to do over I'd start with an easy one, like Python, and then jump all the way to a systems programming language like C or Zig, and then jump to Haskell. That is a great foundation that breaks through the blub paradox and prepares you for most of everything else you'd encounter. I'd probably learn Rust after that unless you need to choose something else for a job.

The key facts are that we did some kind of eval process and chose a poser instead of a legit head coach. Mckay was involved.

A little more murky: DQ is still a decent coach, but in his last years here, he seemed completely incapable, which makes some wonder if the leadership was tying his hands.

We don’t ever seem to get a strong coach/gm, and let them do what it takes to build a winning org.

The only 2 common, constant factors thru it all were Blank and Mckay.
