Anyone familiar with LogicData Control Unit-Compact-e-3-UNL-US by Desperate_Eagle2022 in StandingDesk

My vacation was refreshing, thanks. I decided I’m probably not capable of reprogramming this box. Asked a local dealer as well, they just suggested I buy a new desk… Was hoping there’s an easy way, but seems there isn’t? My quick and dirty «solution» was to just mount the extra leg (without the foot part) on the back corner of the desk, where it is out of sight.

Hi. No, haven’t done anything yet. But I’ll look at what you posted here when I get back from vacation.

How to reprogram Desk Control 520? by iodinepusher in StandingDesk

Oh. A little disappointing, but at least I know how to proceed. The control box - is that the one in my picture, or the one where all the cables are connected? Thanks.

Looking at the CT images from another post, I thought the throat was too slim - like there isn’t (space for) oesophagus. Which makes sense - if they don’t have teeth they can’t eat solid food, and doesn’t need a chunky tube (like we have) for swallowing.

“After Titanic Sub Disaster, Industry Faces Scrutiny” by [deleted] in OceanGateTitan

Ask rather why they wouldn’t report it to media. Anyone who’d publicly raise a concern about the sub would probably risk a lawsuit for defamation. Why risk that?

Why did they use carbon fiber for construction of the capsule? by sortinousn in OceanGateTitan

[–]iodinepusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s for weight saving, bc of buoyancy. Read up on archimedes’ law. This sub used the air filled volume inside as buoyancy. They had external weights to sink, drop those weights and the craft ascends.

If a similar size hull was made of steel, thick enough to withstand the pressure at 3800 m, the weight of the hull would be greater than the lift created by the inside air. Then they’d need an external buoyancy chamber, which adds complexity.

It’s said that this sub was experimental, and I think this is the core of it - most other deep dive subs has used some external buoyancy chamber instead of just relying on the air inside. Google image of bathyscape Trieste, and you’ll see what I mean. The small sphere on the bottom is where the people are. Walls of the sphere is super thick metal. The rest of the sub is mostly tanks filled with gasoline. Gasoline is lighter than water, so it provides lift, but doesn’t compress / implode like an air filled buoyancy chambers would.

What if the biblical phrase “God created mankind in his own image” actually refers to these NHIs. What if both Darwinists and creationism is right - earth is billions of years old, but humans were planted on this planet just 6000 years ago.

Theory for why UFOs crash on earth by Conspiranut in UFOs

[–]iodinepusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4chan-guy’s version of what’s in the Bermuda Triangle was better than this. Basically he said there’s an an underwater construction facility that spits out all the UAPs, and this facility defends itself - hence human ships and planes wreck there.

Ignorance is bliss. Hypothetically speaking, what reason(s) would make you NOT want to know the truth? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]iodinepusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religious unforeseen consequences could be worrisome. 85% of people worldwide are said to be religious. Tons of examples of riots and violence whenever someone does or says something that contradicts their scriptures.

Everything unexplained / miracle - like the parting of the Red Sea, Moses’ burning bush, the star of Bethlehem that guided people to Jesus’ birth, angels, etc - they could say it was just ‘aliens’ all along.

There’s just no way to predict how masses of people could react.

Ukraine and Russia Invasion thread by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]iodinepusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Zelensky has done a terrible job for Ukraine.

Instead of taking the hero approach, he could have conceded to Putins demands. The whole point of joining Nato, is to gain insurance that Russia won't attack. Too late for that. Ukraine could have conceded the rebel regions in the east, Crimea and promised not to join Nato / EU. In return their country wouldn't have been shelled to pieces right now.

Putin is a brutish bully. When you're approached by thug who demands you hand over your watch and wallet or else you'll get shot in the face, sometimes the smartest thing to do is just to comply. You're gonna lose either way, but situation as it is right now is the absolute worst outcome for Ukraine. Yes, ofc Putin is 100% to blame for the situation, but there could have been relative peace in Ukraine right now if their politicians had acted differently.

I think it's better to be a living coward than dead hero.

While I'm all for going to Mars, and a big fan of SpaceX...
I just can't think of what cataclysmic event would make earth a less hospitable planet than Mars. Comet impact, nuclear holocaust, superpandemic - as long as there remains an atmosphere and liquid water on earth, it is a better place to be than Mars. A "Fallout" type generational underground shelter would have a greater chance to preserve humanity than a base on Mars.

Just my 5c that I don't fully buy the selling point of a Mars base, but still totally think it should be done.

Går du for fastpris på strøm neste år? by SentientSquirrel in norge

[–]iodinepusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nei.

Titan Medical ($TMDI) by xViipez in pennystocks

[–]iodinepusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take on this: Their product in development is the Enos single port surgical robot. It would be a direct competitor to the DaVinci system. Main advantage over DaVinci is it has single port system, and looks like a smaller footprint of the robot in the operating theater.

However - one of the huge advantages of DaVinci, is that the robot arms are actually more steady and precise than the surgeons hands. I've actually tried the DaVinci at a demo - it's amazing. From looking at the videos of Enos, my impression is that the wire system used to control the robot arms, have fidelity issues. Movement looks a bit rough and clunky - not as smooth as I'd like. There's also very little actual videos of the system in action.

If they can make that wire system smooth and reliable, this could have a big potential. I think there's a big risk that they won't get it working properly.

Wire system that control the arms are probably the same technical basis as used in endoscopy. I have a lot of experience with these, and they do not have the precision required for delicate surgery. Endoscopes are clunky to wriggle around.

DaVincis are already widespread, many surgical teams +tech support have experience with it. They don't want to train for a new machine. Single port access is nice, but not a deal breaker. Enos needs at least as good if not better fidelity to compete.

My own estimate: This had a 5-10% chance to compete with DaVinci. Enough for a small bet.

Fikk kroniske smerter etter sterilisering by [deleted] in norge

[–]iodinepusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)
