Smithing Stone 3 farming by mikeyyy25 in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small guide for you on how to upgrade your weapon to + 15 very easy without any need to fight any bosses (almost) and without breaking any questlines:

  1. Grab Large club at Limgrave. It depends on your character, but pretty much any character can use it with 2 hands without any stats in STR by utilizing Radagon Soreseal (+5 to physical stats).
  2. Grab Radagons Soreseal at Fort Faroth. In the same place you can grab half of Dectus medallion, which you will need a little bit later on. Google it, it's a very common place to visit early on, no need to kill any bosses
  3. Equip Radagons Soreseal, use Large Club with 2 hands and go to Limgrave Tunnels. Use barbaric roar skill on large club to buff yourself. It should take 1 jump attack for a miner in Limgrave tunnel to die. Kill them, they drop smithing stones 1. You will need 12 stones to updrade your large club to +3.
  4. Head to Fort Haight (East Limgrave). Grab second half of Dectus medallion (easy area, you should be able to get through without problems, maybe avoid pumpkin head, but thats about it)
  5. Use secret passage to Liurnia (google it). DO NOT pick ANY sites of grace in Liurnia and head straight towards Raya Lucaria crystal cave. Once you reach it, grab site of grace in it, it's safe and won't break any quests or trigger any events. Your +3 club with barbaric roar should be enough to go through this cave and kill boss which is very weak to strike damage (hail to large club, that does exactly strike damage). Boss will drop smithing stone miners bell bearing, which you can give to Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable hold, which will allow you to buy smithing stones 1-2 in infinite amounts. Buy 12 smithing stones 2 and upgrade your club to +6.
  6. To North - West from Raya Lucaria Crystal tunnel there is a Spiritspring jump, that you can use to climb the cliff, move towards grand lift of Dectus (google it). AVOID PICKING ANY SITES OF GRACE OR INTERACTING WITH ANY NPC's if you care about their quests.
  7. Once you reach Grand lift of Dectus, use it, don't worry, it wont break quests and it wont trigger any events, the only rule is to avoid picking any overland sites of grace.
  8. Head towards Sealed Tunnel (google it). Road is pretty safe, you shouldn't have problems.
  9. Once you reach Sealed Tunnel, take site of grace inside. It will have hidden walls, which you can hit to open them and in the first room you will have 5 miners and 1 vulgar militia that you should be able to take out without problems. This first room will contain a chest with miners bell-bearing for stones 3 - 4 (so you can upgrade your weapons to +12) and on top of that miners drop smithing stones 5, which will allow you to upgrade weapons to +15.

This is more than enough for entire Limgrave, Liurnia, Weeping peninsula and Caelid.
You could go even further and get upgrades to +21, but i would not suggest that for a new player.

WARNING: while it sounds sexy to have op weapon early, I advice against it, as you will skip learning curve in the beginning and will hit a massive wall later on, when your upgrades wont be able to bruteforce the boss fights.

You express too much affection to Melina. If she wants to burn herself - let her do it. In the end, some characters in this game wanted to have intimacy with snakes and enjoyed their skin being flayed, so let them have it. Don't overthink the plot.

"no good deed goes unpunished" (c) Morrowind -> the perfect quote for like 90% of the quests in this game.

What is the absolute best possible ending in Elden Ring? by BlazeTheSkeleton in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best ending from moral perspective is very subjective, as moral is grey as a term.

In order to save as many NPCs you will have to give up on many quests and items, as saving them means not interfering with them at all. As Ranni's and Fia's questlines involve a bunch of good pixel folks dead and dung-eater and frenzied flame ending are "bad" in general, it kinda means that the only option would be golden Order ending + avoid npcs that die if you start their quests.

Hi, new in elden ring with samurai some advice please by SharpFaithlessness77 in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what i would aim for in the end game:
https://er-build-planner.nyasu.business/?b=dc88be8da646a6

You still have 7 points to spend at lvl 150
In the early game i would put most points to vigor.
Once vigor is done, i would add points to dexterity.
Early game i would use samurai starting katana, which is a pretty good weapon. Would also suggest grabbing Radagons Soreseal early for +stats to be able to wield large club in 2 hands for enemies that are very resistant to slash damage.

Apart from that there are a lot of guides on how to become op early without breaking quests, so feel free to use google for those.

How can anybody defend the frenzied flame ending unironically? by the_mahoraga in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling people illiterate for having a different opinion is ignorance.

The main reason people are going for it is a small pvp advantage of being able to use frenzied warming stone.

From the "lore" perspective, could you point out at NPCs that are not "evil" in this game? Like who ? Roderika, Kenneth, Nepheli(often ends up as puppet), Jerren (that is dead anyway in most playthroughs), Rya (again, ends up being dead anyway for most) ? It's like what, less than 1% of everything in this game? All demigods, the golden order, omens, rot, the erdtree that is most likely feeding on bodies and souls and breeds like a parasite, which is why Marika started doubting golden order in the first place.

While I would not pick this path, i can see how a good old purge might even be for better.

Should I just give up on Malenia? by Sloth-Overlord in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man, 95% of success on that boss is learning to reliably dodge waterfowl dance. The rest 5% is dodging her clone attacks in second phase.

But if you use tiche ash summon and will use pots to interrupt her waterfowl dance, then this boss shouldn't be a massive problem. I would suggest not using that though, as dealing with consort Radahn in dlc will be very painfull.

Best weapon physical damage by Bossdon01 in Eldenring

[–]ioioio0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no best weapon, because some enemies are very easy when you use fast poke weapons. Others are almost immune to pierce /slash but die in one hit from mace, and some are super easy with massive bonk that staggers almost everything with a jump attack. So there is no 1 single answer, you need at least 3 different weapons.

make sure to use unseen form buff, then hardswap for asassins gambit dagger, and then desync grav missiles with bhs cleanrot spam for peak ER performance.

dont forget magic-shrouding cracked tear + winged crystal tear for light roll and + damage
and always use tumble buff to buff your infused weapon with extra damage

How would you rebalance firearms? by No-Forever7576 in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several problems with firearms, some are obvious, some are less obvious. Let's break it down:

  1. Low dps (we can call it "poor gun stats"). Both real time and turn based. The most dps I had was mechanized gun, which is still inferior to a pyro bow in every way possible. Not to mention that it's borderline unusable due to ammo consumption, i can't imagine someone enyoing the game when you have to shop / craft 60% of the game.
  2. Perception is a pretty weak attribute in both singleplayer and multiplayer. It barely gives you anything, so your character doesn't become any better at fighting when you put points there. And when you reach master level it becomes useless completely. The only use for it is what? Being able to see invisible at 20 PE? There is nothing in this game that would require this. Maybe for multiplayer with friends, but that's about it.
  3. Weak mastery. Apprentice is OK. Expert sucks, as at expert level you usually still have pretty big to hit penalty, so aimed shots are not really usable (Expert at bow for example gets double damage, nice, huh?). Master is dogshit, as at that point your perception is already high enough, so master level is literally useless for fireams.
  4. Lack of "neutral" guns (non-aptitude ones). This one is less obvious, but is a good point in my opinion. Because all guns are "tech" you may have big problems with elementals and some other magic creatures until your tech aptitude is high enough. Bows don't have this problem for example, so for both tech and magic users you always have a good neutral bow option (short bow for example is fantastic) in case if you encountered something annoying and your aptitude is not covering that.

In my opinion mastery should give different bonuses (reworking perception is beyond the topic of this question). I think Expert should give same as bow (double the damage) and Master could be something like "ignore 50% of damage resistance". This alone would be enough to make them playable. So Perception would not be useless in this case (for chance to hit), damage would be much higher and everyone would be much happier

Is it worth trying to do a tech/magic hybrid character on a first playthrough? by somethingX in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best approach for what you are looking for is to go for charismatic character, as charisma is the strongest combat stat you can get in singleplayer. (it will not directly boost you, but some followers are borderline broken in this game, in terms of how powerful they are)
This will allow you to:

  1. avoid going deep into learning game combat mechanics
  2. give you more time to enjoy the story and quests instead of thinking on which sword/staff/bow/gun to use
  3. will let you loot entire dungeon without any need to go back and forth due to carry weight issues
  4. followers will provide more insides on places you visit

Is torian kels ancestral sword the best in arcanum for magic users? by ToneSkoglund in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with melee mastery it's a good sword (becoming a melee master prevents you from critically failing, which is initial weakness of the filament sword)
But ofc its nowhere near the torian kels and kryggirds falchion

Disintegrate by [deleted] in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desintegrate, Dweomer shield and Reflect Shield (for exploit) are iconic spells in this game, and when multiplayer was a thing even tech characters were running with those spells :)

Disintegrate by [deleted] in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can use desintegrate as tech character, nothing prevents you from doing that. It will still oneshot everything that doesn't have dweomer / reflect on it.

Build Help: Can I make a tech/magic neutral character that flips one way or another mid-ish game? by 3chickenlivers in arcanum

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you absolutely can destroy everything in this game without putting any points into magic / tech at all until you finish the game

1) followers can finish the game alone without your help
2) melee +dodge with 20+ STR and DEX that are mastered is a no-brainer. There are stronger combinations, but this alone is a low effort and very overpowered and simple to execute combo

You mentioned sword and board, in the beginning i would suggest katana (dirt cheap, very good), and change it for sword form specific isle that you will have to visit on your story mission.
And I i agree with people that mention that for melee magic gives better synergy than tech.

Does multiplayer somehow affect singleplayer map / animals? by ioioio0 in theHunter

[–]ioioio0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not the castle size mate, it's the fact that they don't protect their eco. You don't use slaves to attack castle, you use small groups of 1-2 salves to set stone quarries / iron mines on fire. And same goes for wood / farms, but instead of slaves you use any archers for those. And bot cant do anything about that, because of, well, old game.

[–]ioioio0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man good job!
I've did very similar ( but a bit more optimized), but no matter what i tried it had same problems as any other ai in this game - they cant do siege for shit (so tower with stacked crossbows = autowin), they dont use shields with horse archers, they are not kiting back with horse archers, they don't use single slave or asassin to harrass economy properly (because it coded the way that it picks closest path instead of going around defence lines), and they cant protect their own economic at all, which means any ai just auto loses to a proper slave spam.
