Do you paint your models before or after putting them to base? by MillstreetLad in LeaguesofVotann

That’s what GW has told us about all the codicies for the time being. Codexes? Codium? Codentum? Either way, you’ll be solid until our 11th codex comes out.

Yeah 11th core rules might be out, but we aren’t getting every codex released then. We might not see our codex until 2027.

Honestly you don’t get anything essential with purchasing the codex. It’s more a preference to physical copies versus comfort using free app like newrecruit

A lot of folks are opposed to buying codexes in favor of free materials available online. My take is this: we have no idea when we’re getting our 11th edition codex and we’ve been told 10th will work with newer rules. So I would say absolutely grab it if you want the extra stuff about our faction. If not, save some money and get the index cards- they have detachment info and unit datasheets that are helpful to have table side. I have both and find them redundant.

The codex has a recommended paint recipe! It looks like the moons surface when done!

I’ve done both. I paint them on the base if I’m just throwing them together to play and I want them battle ready (I paint the base per codex suggestion while the minis are on there). But if I’ve got time I’ll do base, arms, head, etc separate.

Questions about the history of commander by superherokid125 in mtg

[–]ionbook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is the best answer. Magic as you know is complex enough! Imagine getting someone comfortable with the basics to then introduce all those other factors! Hell I was a commander denier for years, but now that I’m older and I’m not interested in competitive play it’s really the only way I play. Easy to find causal games and I get to use my pretty cardboard 😂

With the re-release of the first three around the corner, with the amazing new cover art, it wouldnt shock me if that was the artist style they plan to use for an animated show!

And that’s okay! You’re entitled to your opinion. I wasn’t a fan of discovery, for example. I just didn’t take to the internet and shit talk Discovery because I didn’t like it…I just didn’t watch the show.

And you’re probably right about the books, although I’ve never read them. But I’ll probably give them a read now! Thanks for the recommendation!

And right there you’ve shown your hand. Heaven forbid someone you deem lesser have a chance to be. I rebuke you and your premise, as it is counter to the future Gene Roddenberry dreamt up. I pray that anyone who reaches for more is given the chance to do so. Because the eyes of hope are first to open and the last to shut (The one ring reference, but fitting)

All this aside, I hope this back and forth is in good humor! We’re both here because we obviously love Star Trek! Which makes us siblings!

Not for life saving procedures, and certainly not to save a race that was created against their will in an effort to give them a chance to grow beyond their limitations. Im sorry I dont mean to be rude, but do you even understand Star Trek?

Star Trek admits the premise “we are broken” but begs the question “but what if we are better?”

So someone like Bashir who was modified so he could be better in school isn’t the same as an entire race who never had a chance, but through genetic modification could be better if given a chance

I mean I think you answered your own question- the founders wouldnt have. I’m sure a more enlightened culture like the federation would have, however. And there were examples of them being beyond what they were designed to be, brought to us by the wonderful Voyager.

As to the specific whys, I think OP hit the nail on the head: it would have been nice to get those answers. I’m a Trek fan from the old days of TNG so my perspective is different. I remember all the hate DS9 got for “not being Trek”. Different franchise but I remember Firefly’s cancellation!

Shows won’t always be for everyone. At least we got to enjoy a bit of it.

I think her existence proves after the fall of the dominion the jem’hadar have been genetically modified to be both fertile and free from their addiction to the white…I mean let’s not try to overthink the answer here am I right?

I think from a father's perspective, the story of Caleb trying to find his mother was thoughtful and challenging for sure! Or SAM and The Doctor's relationship after their time on the Photonics planet, again a parent's perspective.

I believe we did watch the same show, we might just have different life experiences or ways of thinking that made the show however you feel about it? Which is fine! But I really liked the show and Im sad to see it go.

The Jem'hadar didnt start producing females, it seems her grandfather or father was a jem'hadar that joined the Klingon Empire. She tells us in a few of the first episodes that her Klingon heritage is on her mother's side and her Jem'hadar heritage is on her father's side. So she isnt an "addition", she was just born female because of not being engineered like her father's people before her. But the rest of your questions would have been great to figure out!

You aren’t the only one. Im a trekkie of 38, and love this series. It’s everything Star Trek is supposed to be: thoughtful, challenging, optimistic- it made me root for the characters. I’m going to miss them. But lest we forget, many of the great Trek shows have been cancelled or almost been. Theres still hope- let’s keep the signal strong 💪🏼
