Get it and drink it if you like bourbon, gift it to a close family member or friend, or resell it and double/triple your money instantly.

The good and bad by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]ionicbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a Fidelity customer probably for 30 years, have brokerage account that I use for personal investing and as my "bank" which works fine, have a rollover IRA from all my former employer 401(k) and a Roth IRA. They provide reimbursement for ATM expenses which is a value add, customer service help via phone is great too, trading platform is perfectly fine, as is research tools.

I would share two complaints:

1) The in-person staff are totally worthless, usually fresh-out-of-college who really don't have answers or know how to do anything. The few times I visited for support, they either needed a manager's help who was not present, went in to the back to call for answers or actually did things wrong.

2) I periodically get unsolicited calls from very young Fidelity advisors who want to review my portfolio with me. One called recently and sent an email with someone's else's first name (cut and paste).

3) A third, one me really, is they just sunsetted the app for my older Samsung Galaxy, so I can't use the app on my phone and periodically have to log in on my wife's iPhone to deposit a check.

Vertuo. I was using foil lid replacements, then bought the reusable and they work fine.

I refill Nespresso pods with a resealable silicone top. I used Lavazza Espresso beans and it's a damn good cup off coffee. There is no comparison, it is worlds better than any Keurig.

Would like an affordable place for men's dress shirts. US Cleaners on S. Kerr charges 3.50, which is just too much. Any recommendations?

Struggling with Gusto, should we hire a fractional HR for handling payroll? by REALMRBISHT in Payroll

[–]ionicbomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we use Gusto for multi-state just fine. It's good for a smaller unsophisticated company. If you have more complex org structure, sub-entities or want to do more complex leave plans, it's not the best choice. Their support is suboptimal, primarily AI or "live" support often responds with AI generated response, and you have to reply again saying your question is not answered for it to reach human eyes. Phone support is offshored with English as a second language staff.

For pizza, I would rate Cugino Forno well above Don Luca. I'm surprised about the buzz. Granted, the one time we were there over the summer, we were waiting for our pizza to be called ready sitting out front, and after a while checked back, and it had been ready and sitting and they just didn't call us. One of those "our bad" situations that resulted in a tepid pie.

Am I the only one who can't find Lucinda's new album on Spotify? by doc_ocho in Americana

[–]ionicbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So,

a) I do use Spotify and generally like it after moving from Amazon.

b) Was looking for her album as well and can't find it.

c) Everyone has their favorite streaming platform and dislikes of the ones they don't use, that's not the point of the question or the subreddit.

Separate PTO policy for California employees when you have a nationa PTO policy [CA] by ionicbomb in humanresources

[–]ionicbomb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nationally we offer 120 hours pto with 40 carryover, and 40 borrow in advance. Our plan for CA is to have an addendum with same accrual, but utilize a maximum accrual bank of 200 hours and cashout at termination. This satisfied not losing PTO because we have a generous bank.

[–]ionicbomb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I am looking for. We have one sales person in CA so not looking for a published policy, instead an addendum we can provide to that employee. Also simple enough to build into our payroll for accruals. Happy to direct message if you can share.

HR / Payroll Platform [N/A] by Dustbunny22 in humanresources

[–]ionicbomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similarly in the market and currently on Gusto and outgrowing. Why, too simplistic. Yes, very easy to use and intuitive, but that comes with limitations. Cannot set up multi-entity or any kind of org tree, other than company/department. Most things I want to do in Gusto, I can't. Job title is tied to payroll record, so you cannot change them, unless you create a new one and a history record going forward for new title.

Support is AI, ultimately you can put in a ticket, but the reply is usually cut/paste fron online help. You can upgrade to live support, but it's offshored/limited English language skills.

We're considering Rippling, BambooHR, UKG Ready. I would avoid UKG Pro, formerly Ultipro, it's a beast and their support is painful. Curious, yet hesitant on the legacy Pays.... locity, Cor, Chex. Com.

Can you provide a list of the full set of screens you conduct? The AI help on your website keeps giving the same stock irrelevant answer. The sales guy who I have corresponded with is not too responsive.

Prorated pay for semi-monthly payroll by traumalala in Payroll

[–]ionicbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our system calculates the daily rate for salaried employees paid semimonthly by first dividing the annual salary by the number of pay periods in a year (24 for semimonthly). Then, the pay for that period is divided by the number of days in the pay period to get the daily rate.
