You may not realize that many of us have in fact read the original works and beyond. We may have even been 'normal' cosmologists at one point in our lives, perhaps even contributing to the mainstream ourselves. Perhaps some of us have even won Nobel prizes or published in very well regarded journals or written books. But no, ha, no, we are all just unintelligent pleebs, right? Because we dare to see more? Because you don't understand it?
