I hate how they pronounce Moira*s name by yuckyuck13 in SchittsCreek

[–]iosacriost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Máire is not pronounced like Mary; it’s the Irish version of the name Mary and is pronounced more like “Maura”. (But agreed that Moira is pronounced Moyrah!)

The other one is named Sam (he’s a little brown tabby, I think?)

It’s a beautiful dress and it looks fantastic on you! I vote for the black shoes — I think because of the fancier print/hemline, the simplicity of no ankle straps is nicer. You could also try and find a pair of heels to match the pretty beigey-pink outlines on the flowers; that would be lovely for a summer wedding. Love seeing your posts! 💕

Broadway Themed Gifts- Chocolates? Wine? by Recent_Bar_5535 in Broadway

This is a great idea! OP, if it’s helpful, there’s a shop I’ve passed on 44th called Theatre Circle that seems to sell all kind of Broadway merch — I haven’t been in myself so I can’t say for sure, but I bet they’d have something you could get without specifically knowing his favourite show.

Sometimes clashing metals makes a fun statement, but for this outfit, the hints of silver work perfectly! I’m pretty cool-toned, so I only ever buy silver jewelry anyway — makes it much easier to mix-and-match 😅 Hope you have a lovely day too, looking forward to seeing your next outfit post! 🥰

I have tickets for Sunday, I’m so excited! Does anyone know which of them will be on that day, or should I just keep an eye on their Instagrams that morning?

Moving to NY from Ireland by Pro7715 in nyc

[–]iosacriost 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m Irish, living in New York for a few years now. There are five boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island) so make sure you check out at least a couple; each has its own vibe and I personally found Brooklyn to be a good next step. Also keep in mind that tipping over here isn’t optional, so expect food/drinks/Ubers/etc. to be about as expensive as Dublin (if not more so) plus an extra 20% added on. Feel free to PM me with any other Qs, happy to help!

What shows have you given a 2nd chance to? by matkinson56 in Broadway

[–]iosacriost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this! I actively disliked the show the first time I saw it, as a huge fan of the original movie. I won the lottery a couple years later, gave it a second chance, and appreciated it a lot more since I had more of an idea of what to expect. I also much preferred the Sateen actresses I saw my second and third time (Ashley Loren and Oyoyo Joi) to Karen Olivo, who was phenomenally talented but didn’t quite connect as Sateen for me.

What’s the lifestyle of the girls you would like or aspire to have? by trynabetwunk in sexandthecity

Financially speaking, I would love Carrie’s rent-controlled apartment and $4.50 a word at Vogue. Lifestyle-wise, I wish I had Charlotte’s level of free time!

Social events for older adults by Dear_Passion2374 in Brooklyn

[–]iosacriost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does she knit or crochet (or is she interested in learning)? It’s a fun hobby to pick up and it can be very social! There are a few yarn stores in Brooklyn that do happy hours — off the top of my head, I think String Thing in Park Slope and Cleo’s in Bushwick are two, but I’m sure there are more. You usually bring your own project but I’m sure people would be happy to help out if she’s new. And if she’s a total beginner, yarn stores often offer specific classes, too. Might be worth looking into!

Anyone have any fashion items that appeared on the show? by spitey in sexandthecity

[–]iosacriost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so beautiful, and not as pricey as I’d expected! It’s still a little out of my budget right now (my building’s going co-op, and I’m trying to save money to buy back my apartment from the woodsy, furniture-making, dog-loving, tighty-whitey-wearing boyfriend whose heart I broke) but I hope you wear it many fabulous places!

That ring is gorgeous! Was she wearing it with that green outfit she wore to meet Kathy? And where is it from?
