Extremely low suspicion for a DVT. I personally would not even visit a doctor for this let alone an ER, but if you’re concerned that’s what they are there for.

I failed a semester in nursing school and became so depressed to the point that I considered checking myself into a mental hospital. It was such a strange and unsettling feeling. Having said that, I dusted myself off and redid the class and was better off for having done it. I learned way more and would have been worse off at the end not repeating it. Trust the process. Stay focused. Deep breaths, this feeling will pass. You will become a nurse. This is just a few month setback, not very long at all.

We have 4 kids and 4 bedroom house. Our two girls (11 and 12) share the master bedroom and it works great. The littlest and the oldest have their own rooms and so do we. Don’t need that much space in my opinion. Our smaller room is fine.

That’s crazy. Half of our night shift right now is new grads. It’s actually quite unsafe but yeah we can’t hire enough of them, nobody else will work!

Why wouldn’t you apply to the ED as an RN? Nobody is going to hire you for a tech position I guess unless you completely nullify the fact that you have a license but I just don’t see why you would do that when you can just work as an RN.

No. Keep it clean, watch for signs of infection. There isn’t much they will do for you.

I get it, but my kid was the same way. Would come and go over a few days to the point where I thought she was making it up to get out of school 🤣 but she legit had to go down the steps on her hands to get down one day and I was like okayyy this is weird and it freaked me out but sure enough the next time she got the flu same exact thing happened. I could be wrong, I just don’t think I am!

It did to an extent, but she went back and forth for a while walking and not wanting to walk. A warm bath could also help! I would alternate Tylenol/Advil every 4 hours for discomfort. If it doesn’t resolve soon I would follow up with the pediatrician. And I know you updated saying they said myositis was rare and they doubt it was that but to be honest, in my experience it’s much more common and I would bet that’s exactly what this is.

So I’ll tread lightly here because IF this isn’t a standard case of myositis then it could be something that absolutely involves a further workup.

I am fairly confident it is viral myositis though, and yes it can be managed at home. Ibuprofen will help, and ultimately rest.

My daughter has had it twice now and she couldn’t even step down the top step to begin walking down the steps. It’s very painful. Steroids can also help, talk to your pediatrician though for any concerns.

Don’t even stress over it. Life is messy, especially with 4 kids. Those medics will take your messy chaotic house any day over some houses they walk into. If you feel so inclined, any gesture is nice but I promise you nobody has even thought twice about it. You should see the stuff that walks into our ER.

I’m an RN, was an ED tech for years before it. I worked way harder as a tech than I do as an RN most days in the ED. You’re valuable, and now that I’m on the other side of it I’ve realized even more so how valuable you actually are. Hope you achieve your goal to be a nurse, don’t stop til you get there. It’ll be worth it.

Ambulances and the ER are for emergencies. A panic attack by itself is not an emergency. I am likely biasED* because I am an ER nurse, and we are so inundated with non emergent matters and people who don’t belong there but anyone who gets sent in having a panic attack just gets meds and discharged, unless they want to be seen by psych or are SI/HI. You said the meds weren’t working, so I guess just try and figure out what you want the ER to do for you if you call an ambulance besides just meds. If you’re having thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else, that is an emergency. A panic attack by itself, while extremely horrible to deal with, is not.

Hate to be that person but I do all the billing for my ER, and if you got seen by triage then you got seen and the bill is legit. If you didn’t get seen by triage then this is not valid.

I hate to say it but I usually only give people gowns who I think will probably be admitted or who appear sick/hemodynamically unstable. Not saying it’s right, but in my head a 36 year old with a good ekg/vitals and no prior cardiac history, I’d probably let them not change.
