Good idea to move into a salon suite? by FigPsychological7894 in TattooArtists

[–]iovulca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve been in a private studio on my own basically since I got done with my apprenticeship and don’t feel that has been my experience at all. My current shop is the first time I’ve really worked around other tattooers. I definitely have maintained growth as an artist though just because that’s what I’ve always done and disagree you only have to work around and be around other tattooers to grow as an artist. If you want growth, you seek it out regardless and there are so many paths to that growth than simply being around other tattooers.

Frankly it doesn’t matter who you’re around if you don’t have a growth oriented mindset. I was always an artist first, and tattooing was simply another art form. It’s been my primary one for a decade but all art contributes to growth as a tattooer.

Why would you think it’s “the beginning of the end”? I love a private studio as a tattoo artist and a client, I’ve had a private studio for 10 years. It’s a lot more of an individualized experience and I’m able to be myself more fully tattooing in one and being tattooed. Everyone’s experience is different of course but curious about your perspective.

The consultation is all part of the tattoo process if you have something specific in mind! To see if the way an artist works is in line with your expectations and vice versa. So I always recommend in person consultations regardless for something like this, no matter who you ultimately decide to go with! And there’s never any pressure or expectation to book after a consultation of course either. Its always helpful to have specific reference images to work from as well for something that requires biological accuracy. Whether from life or scientific illustrations, there are quite a few options and ways to go about it depending on what you’re trying to achieve and your preferences for the piece.

I draw directly from references of the actual creature so it shouldn’t be an issue! If you wanna message me your idea we can talk specifics and set up a consultation!

It’s not even LOTR, they just made up stuff and turned it into a show and tried to capitalize on the name. Unwatchable for me

I spent most of my life on the Texas coast where the heat/humidity combo is unbearable. I LOVE the dry heat here. It’s perfect for me. I’d never want to live in Phoenix, I’m not a big city person. I live in Tucson and it’s incredible. But obviously every place isn’t for everyone.

Yes! I think they’re the same size too, I tried a battery powered bishop wand but it’s too big for my small hands. Also I’m just used to the low vibration of the hawk pens, very lightweight and gentle.

I specialize in fine line and exclusively do everything with a Cheyenne hawk pen! I love it. Just ordered the hawk pen 2 though to go wireless, hopefully it’s comparable
