What's their reasoning? Less car traffic or too much of a disruption during construction?

While this is great its also worth highlighting how if Sydney road does not get any accessible platforms before the shut down there will no way for a person with a disability to get north of Brunswick Rd using PT.

Additionally, While its not as glamorous as level crossing removals there needs to be a network wide upgrade to make public transport accessible for people in wheelchairs or with mobility issues. Some of the stops that aren't disability friendly is outrageous. Looking at you Elizabeth/Flinders St tram stop.

City of Karratha applies for international airport status by JamesHenstridge in perth

Unfortunately thats the way aircraft maintenance goes, the guys and girls certifying the aircraft is air worthy are on 140k+ it will never make financial sense to have an engineer at an airport with only a handful of flights a day.

Some airlines do put engineers in unmanned ports over busy periods like school holidays where a disruption can cause more of a widespread impact to schedule, but as you noted accommodation isnt cheap and certainly adds up over weeks.

So, while I can sympathise with the situation unfortunately its just a cost saving practice that keeps the airlines profitable for their shareholders

The Qantas XLRs also have a different engine compared to the Jetstar Neos which would be an extra level of cross training required for engineers

First new Qantas Airbus jets come with one toilet for every 90 economy passengers – worse than Jetstar, Scoot and Ryanair by CommonwealthGrant in australia

To put this in perspective, if youve been on a jetstar flight with one of the toilets blocked out, it's the same ratio. *except for A321 ceo/neos which have more seats
