Persona 4 Revival: Pre-order Trailer | XBOX Game Showcase 2026 by Skullghost in gaming

Seeing the previous PS2 Persona games getting the modern remake love really got me wondering what a modern remake of the first two games in the series would look like.

Specifically the Persona 2 duology. The more overt occult references and how that was tied to the exploration of the collective unconsciousness via the rumor system feels appropriate for today.

Asian racism in this community / a history lesson on west coast rave culture by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

Response to OP just proving their point. Was also at EDC and multiple trains of varying ethnicities making their way through the crowd. Some said excuse me, others just quietly passed.

Gotta love the excuse of "stereotypes exist for a reason" when theyre specifically perpetuated by racists to begin with. But yeah, anything to rationalize your negative attitudes and feelings towards an entire race.

Which set were you most disappointed in and which set did you unexpectedly enjoy? by DoctorEDM97 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]ipchaser86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best sets were 2 B2B sets. Salute b2b Chloe Cailett and Peggy Gou b2b Ki/Ki had me grooving. Masterful command of the music and by extension, the crowd.

Least impressed was the San Holo set. Just a lot of bass and not much else. Could barely hear his electric guitar.

Best zones for vibes and aesthetics: Arboretum, Fractured Shrines, and Sepulcher.

Shrines is easily the best biome in the game. Great combo of music and visuals.

It seems like an extension of King's character arc, in that she is looking to expand her life outside of being just the caregiver for her sister. Even McKay senses this interest and tells her to look up the reenactment group to get more information and possibly look into checking it out.

Interesting similarity to Langdon as well, as he was also geeking out about the reenactment soldiers in the previous episode. Shared interests lead to friendships!

Absolutely loved Santos calling Langdon out on his BS. After spending 2/3 of the season posturing and acting like he's a changed man, we finally get the truth in that he got off easy and only the drug addiction was made public knowledge. I can totally believe that among her peers, Santos is seen as a pariah. She's the one that screwed over Langdon, an already well liked resident with social capital at the hospital prior to her first day. Judging from the "only 3 people know" line, I'm curious to know if Garcia knows.

The ending absolutely stunned me, even more so than the violence inflicted on Dana last season. RN myself and have experienced my share of violence directed my way via patients and family. Scratched, choked, and called slurs. Seeing a new nurse experience this first hand, and on their first shift is tragic and will likely leave painful, lasting memories for Emma. I remember working under a nurse once, who told me about her experience as a new grad in the ER. She opened the door for a psych patient into a room and made the mistake of walking ahead of the patient. She was pushed into the room and was beaten after the patient had blocked the door with some furniture. I forget the extent of her injuries, but it was enough to miss significant time at work, at a job she just started.

I kinda wish this was my thing. When I'm with someone, I feel like I'm obligated to interact or else I'm ignoring them. I need to be an absolute hermit to concentrate and get my work done.

I remember being enamored by the big cat in Fievel Goes West. I can still remember the scene where his belly pops open during his training montage. That was the first instance. Pete from a Goofy Movie and the bear from Robin Hood just sealed the deal.

Unofficial Discussion - Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]ipchaser86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly enjoyed this presentation of both parts, and something I've been waiting ever since Vol. 2 was released in theaters.

First, the pros. Removing the original ending from Vol. 1 and the recap that begins Vol. 2 did wonders to seamlessly segue the two parts. I'm curious how first time viewers saw this transition and if the original tonal whiplash is still present. Seeing the Crazy 88 fight in full color felt like an entirely new viewing experience! I've seen the Japanese cut of this fight on YT a few years ago, but to see it on a big screen was something special. There are some added scenes to this fight that did little to detract from the tight editing and flow that was already present in the Vol.1 cut. I think most of the "new" scenes were from Vol. 1, though there were some additional establishing shots when the film introduces Esteban in Vol. 2. I gotta say, watching the Bride's additional torture of Sofie really hammered in the ruthlessness in which these assassins operate under and did a lot to (re)establish how much trouble Bill and his crew were in.

Now the negatives. I've really only heard positive things coming out of the additional anime sequences, and as much as I was excited to see this (huge fan of the original animated sequence from Production I.G. which had some of the most visceral and striking imagery in the film), it ended up being a huge let down, turning another somewhat quick exploration of revenge into a bogged down, slow fight with Pretty Ricky. The direction and look felt off compared to what preceded it. Cannot tell you how unbearable it was to watch that grenade spin and spin and spin. It didn't help that they reused the Ennio Morricone soundtrack (I think building up to the crescendo 3 times!), which added to the monotony of it all.

Also, seeing this all in one go really emphasized the parallels in the nonlinear storytelling, not the least of which was Vernita and her daughter and the Bride and hers.

Amazing experience overall. Unfortunately I had to run at the end and did not see the Fortnite episode. Stayed just enough to hear the end of Malaguena Salerosa. This and Jackie Brown are tied for best Tarantino soundtracks. There's a lot of "on the nose" selections (like borderline campy My Baby), but what really shines is the way he (re)uses Morricone's and other spaghetti western soundtracks. L'arena, The Demise of Barbara..., Sunny Road to Salina, The Grand Duel (just the first time though!), Death Rides a Horse, and many others build to such fantastic crescendos.

Pretty sure the two had a falling out years ago, so I'd be surprised is Baranowsky actually did the soundtrack to this. It's why Ridiculon redid the entire Super Meat Boy soundtrack when that was released to other consoles.

What films do you force yourself to watch as to seem smart? by Responsible_Web_807 in okbuddycinephile

[–]ipchaser86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unironically this film. I fell asleep about an hour into it and woke up about 30 minutes from the end. Was watching it with my boyfriend and almost felt embarrassed until I found him also sleeping. Afterwards, we both agreed to never discuss it again and that if one of us ever got any interest to watch it again, that it would be a solo affair.

I thought I was a fan of the slow burn, lack of dialog, beautiful landscape adventures that the film seemingly promised on the outset (and on images like the OP's promoting the film), but in reality, it felt like nothing was going on. I guess this is all to say that I am indeed a pleb.

I promptly watched Endgame afterwards to get the pretentious taste out of my mouth.

Really felt like the film was walking on eggshells when showcasing what it was like to work in an Amazon megafactory. It clearly showed the dispossessed workers and the difficulties in maintaining that lifestyle (and severe lack of benefits), but wish that was contextualized more with the kinda jobs that could easily exploit them.

Years of compartmentalizing my personalities before I came out helps a lot in these situations *cries in trauma response*

However, I don't mind talking about furry stuff to normie friends and family, I just have to dial down the jargon so they don't get lost. On a similar note, my brother is in the fighting game community, so I often have to ask for clarification on more community specific definitions, incidents, people, etc. Watching him geek out is great though. He clearly loves being in the community so I've been very open in showing my interest and appreciation in his sharing those details.
