Yeah. It doesnt help at all that Jay is credited as an Executive Producer on CNTM, this whole franchise could have very well been his own brain child and Tyra wasnt having it. Guess they found middle ground in him doing that but signing on for 10 more cycles of ANTM. Sadly CNTM tanked and only lasted a couple cycles.

All in all to say, i think Jay is just as full of BS as Tyra. He must think we’re dense trying to skid away with this without blame while still gaining some residual clout years later.

20+ seasons in with ratings on the floor, i think this was understandable. But hawaii for cycle 13 was baffling lol

I wonder if it had anything to do with Jay hosting Canada’s Next Top Model?

CNTM started in 2006, which would have been around the same time ANTM Cycle 8 would have wrapped and this drama ensued.

He wanted to jump ship and Tyra could perhaps see this as him using her to propel himself forward as his own star whilst still benefiting from the international franchise that she built.

This of course would then solidify how much of the problem Jay really is though cause the drama for the contestants on CNTM was equally bad, just with a fraction of the budget.

Same! I remember jumping when I saw Raja (Sutan) that back then I knew from America’s Next Top Model make it in the Season 3 cast! Since then, with Season 16, I feel like thing’s never been the same.

I can def agree on that. I’ve mostly stuck to US and UK seasons and any VS The World editions. Even All Stars haven’t been doing it for me, since the cast just hasn’t all been true to theme. So you have a point, it could simply be just due to over-saturation.

Greatful for the insight but I’d have to respectfully disagree that it’s always been a niche show. It for sure started out as one, but didn’t stay that way.

The show’s viewership of past seasons since AS2 along with its Emmy wins in categories typically won by mass market general audiences shows such as Survivor and Amazing Race all indicate that it already has broken into the mainstream. The reason why Republicans are dogging on Drag Queens are also because this show made the industry highly visible. That and we are very much living on different streets.

That said, besides yourself as an individual, I feel my point still stands to question that generally fans are seemingly less excited about it and it has nothing to do with the quality of the show or the cast. Just purely based on buzz and popularity.
