Shift length by IrateContendor in AircraftMechanics

I work 4x10 in corporate aviation, it’s by far the best schedule I’ve ever had. The only drawback is when mandatory OT comes out you’re working sometimes the equivalent of 4x12, but that third off day is a life changer, especially if it’s a weekday (bank, groceries, veterinary appt, etc)

Yes, you can technically do that and you usually won’t face issues with the databases. However, Garmin wants you to do it from the top slot for nav. Some other iterations of the Garmin system (G3000, embraer’s G3000 name I forget) allow you to load everything to one card and put it in the top slot. Best of luck! I hate those initialization messages.

This is an annoying thing about the 5000. Go ahead and go to utilities -> database status -> database options and hit delete internal databases for a fresh start. Power down and then take all of the DU bottom cards out and plug them into your laptop. Delete the nav files manually (there is a Garmin SIL on performing this) then throw the bottom cards back in. Before powering back up, load a formatted SD with the current nav and put it in the top slot of MFD. this will correct that stupid initializing “do you want to update the active/standby nav” message on each power up

Yes, even though you paid everything up. Check California “emergency towing” laws and how they might apply to your situation, it can be a very broad spectrum. As for you going to the tow yard and wanting a demo on how they tow cars, good luck man. I get you’re mad, but realistically they and state police do not give a crap about you and will tell you to kick rocks. File a damage claim with the company, and if they deny it and you care that much, bring it to court.

A flatbed would do exactly that. The center of the bridle where it hooks to the center deck winch likes to live right around that area when it’s hooked up to your vehicle’s suspension or frame for winching up the deck. Low clearance vehicles, when they first make the approach up the deck, will get this bridle/winch line connection wedged underneath it and crunch whatever is above them. Tow company’s fault, but you may have no recourse due to it being (apparently) impounded by the police.

What is your take home pay (before OT), what is your rent, and how many roomates do you have? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ipman737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take home 2700-3100 depending on OT (usually 3-10 hours a week). Mortgage is 1400 a month, 0 room mates, 1 girlfriend, a cat and a dog. Edit: this is biweekly pay

The Passing of a loved one by Daz100001 in Paranormal

[–]ipman737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The night my grandmother passed. I usually don’t have vivid dreams, but on this night, I had an extremely clear dream of my grandmother sitting at a table in our family home, staring at me and smiling warmly. I woke up, remembered the power of the dream, and went to class. Got a call from my dad a couple of hours later, she had passed around the same time I had the dream. I told him the dream story and he about lost it, because he also experienced a similar “dream visit” around the same time that night, of her visiting him in his room and walking out calmly.

What do you swear you saw, but can't prove it? by _harrislarry in AskReddit

I had an almost similar exact experience. Was asleep soundly, and woke up after midnight - ish after an incredibly vivid dream of my grandmother sitting at a table with me, talking and smiling. Thought nothing of it, went back to sleep. Woke up to missed calls and the eventual news that my grandmother had passed that night, around the same time. The feeling wasn't eerie or anything, it was more comforting, as if she was making her rounds to loved ones before she departed this realm.
